Vanderbilt Health - Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for an Executive Director, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital.The Executive Director plays a leadership role in the development and implementation of long-term strategies, developing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities; preparing operating and capital expenditure budgets; and performing personnel administration functions specific to Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital.
The Executive Director will lead efforts to ensure the highest levels of patient care, quality, service, growth margin, and ROI for the 106-bed Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Psychiatric Assessment Service/Operation Command Center, and neuromodulation services based at the hospital (ECT). The candidate will have dual reporting relationships with the President of Vanderbilt University Hospital for the 78 adult beds and the President of Monroe Carell Junior Children's Hospital for the 28-bed Child/Adolescent Unit. The candidate will work closely with both hospitals ensuring optimal patient flow in the hospital (s) as needed. The candidate will assist in the initiatives of the Behavioral Health Clinical Services Center to support the professional home for master's level behavioral health providers.
Direct reports may include: Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Associate Operating Officer, Associate Director of Finance, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Engagement, and Director of Admissions & Business Operations.
Department Summary:
The Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital (VPH) was founded as a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. The hospital has expanded its services and now provides services for children, adolescents, and adults. Residents in their PGY 1 and PGY 2 year spend time on each of the following acute inpatient units: Child, Adolescent, General Adult, Psychotic Disorders, and Addiction.

* Leadership
* Develop goals and objectives for the department based on interpretation of institutional policy and goals
* Provides leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans and defines and implements plans and policies
* Ensure a long-range strategy which fits the mission and vision of Vanderbilt University Medical Center
* Create an organizational culture (both within and across departments) that provides a safe, satisfying and enriching environment for employees and provides a qualified, competent staff
* Define and achieve financial targets in support of business goals of the institution
* Responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices and obtaining and implementing financial advice
* Ensures operations within budget guidelines
* Provide opportunities for communication and collaboration between Vanderbilt University and our community
* Develops a broad awareness of departments goals, objectives and activities
* Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with other groups and organizations
* Represents Vanderbilt University and/or Vanderbilt University Medical Center's point of view to agencies, organizations and the general public
