As a Director Payroll Operations you need to know how to:
Responsible for establishing a common approach to support SCL Health current and future payroll production and reporting needs, including the design, testing and implementation of Payroll system tools in cooperation with ITDS and HR partners
Supervises and coordinates fiscal and calendar year-end processing of payroll including supplemental payrolls, W-2s, tax forms, and all additional required documentation per local and federal regulations
Ensures that payroll and tax filings are processed accurately and timely.
Ensure that payroll details are reconciled to the general ledger.
Partners with Human Resources to resolve human resource and benefit issues related to payroll processing.
Develops the payroll budget and maintains necessary controls to ensure compliance with budgeted expenditures.
Develops and maintains policies and procedures related to the Payroll department along with being the in-house technical âœexpertâ relating to all payroll matters and compliance matters. Must stay current on regulatory changes impacting the payroll area, including industry specific regulations for healthcare and not-for-profit entities.

Bachelorâ™s Degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field, required
Masterâ™s Degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field, preferred
Professional Payroll or related Human Resources certification, required
CPP certification, preferred
Seven (7) years of payroll experience handling multi-state and high volume payroll processing, including both exempt and non-exempt workforces. Five years of management and business leadership experience. Experience with tax filings for federal, state, and local agencies, required
Healthcare and not-for-profit experience highly desired, preferred
