Position Summary:
The Executive Director of the Health Equity Catalyst for Virginia will be a visionary and compelling leader and spokesperson serving as the lead fundraiser for the Foundation, reporting to both the CEO of the Virginia Community Healthcare Association (VCHA) and the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Foundation.
In addition to the responsibilities associated with running the day-to-day operations, this role is responsible for spearheading a comprehensive fundraising program to support the Foundation's mission, vision, and strategic objectives. Key areas of focus include annual giving, major giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation giving, and fundraising events. Additionally, the Executive Director plays a critical role in engaging the Foundation's Board of Directors and establishing connections with community stakeholders to advance the Foundation's priorities through fundraising initiatives.
The Executive Director plays a crucial role in driving the Foundation's financial sustainability and community engagement, furthering its mission to support healthcare initiatives in Virginia.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Planning: Establishes measurable objectives for the Foundation along with fundraising objectives for annual giving, prospect pipeline activities such as cultivation, solicitations, stewardship, and special events. Provides regular reports on goal achievement and addresses any variances proactively.
- Goal Setting: Supports the development and monitoring of measurable goals for the Foundation in addition to major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, and events.
- Board Development: Manages activities and fundraising efforts that involve health center CEOs, Foundation Board Members, health centers’ Board of Directors, and key volunteers. Leads and organizes the Foundation Board and its committees in coordination with the Foundation Board Chair.
- Donor Development: Identifies and researches potential major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations., Maintains a portfolio of these major donor prospects, and develops strategies to actively engage in effective outreach, relationship-building, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Community Relations: Collaborates with VCHA’s Director of Marketing, President/CEO, and senior team members to ensure the Foundation’s representation in various community relations activities, including those focused on fundraising. Promotes the health centers, their programs, and services, participating in community events and committees to integrate into the community and enhance the Foundation's visibility.
- Fiscal Management: Prepares and actively monitors the annual operating budget, identifies budget variances, and takes corrective actions as necessary. Sets fundraising targets and tracks progress toward achieving goals and identifying fundraising projects.
- Communications: Develops a comprehensive communication plan, encompassing annual appeals, stewardship materials, newsletters, and public speaking engagements to promote the Foundation's achievements and funding needs through print, social media, and public speaking.
- Compliance: Ensures adherence to policies and procedures related to effective and professional fundraising program management. Maintains the confidentiality of donor records, ensures an accurate donor database, and documents all necessary aspects of donor engagement, such as meetings, gift agreements, pledge reminders, and gift receipts. Ensures compliance with all grants and contracts.
- Leadership: After the first year, this position will begin to build and manage staff for administration and fundraising. Growing a team will be important for increasing revenue and distributing funds for the Foundation’s priorities.

Education and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Relevant experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, or healthcare administration is a significant advantage.

Work Hours:
This is a full-time 40 hours per week position. The employee works 8 hours per day, with hybrid rotation 4 days in the office and 6 days remotely (every other week).
