Position Overview
The Medical Director provides comprehensive medical leadership and supervision of all medical staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, with indirect supervision of nursing and medical assistant staff. Working in collaboration with Senior Management, the Medical Director directs Health Center operations and policy setting. This role ensures the Health Centers function as a synergistic, harmonious, and productive entity, fully integrated with other organizational components to fulfill the organization's mission and objectives.
This position is open to qualified physicians (MD/DO) and Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) with appropriate leadership experience and clinical expertise.

Core Responsibilities
This position will participate in direct patient care (25%) and will contribute to various leadership initiatives (75%) as outlined below -
Clinical Leadership & Supervision (60%)
Clinically supervise direct and indirect delivery of medical care Serve as medical liaison to center physicians and outside agencies Lead workflow design for clinicians
Oversee service utilization including referrals to specialty physicians, urgent care, ambulatory consultant services etc.
Participate in regular clinical leadership meetings and initiatives
Provide guidance on complex clinical cases and quality standards
Manage urgent and emergent clinical events
Maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends and best practices
Serve as clinical content authority development of on medical policies, procedures, standards & protocols
Collaborate with other departments to advance agency mission
Attend and actively participate in leadership and board meetings
Oversee clinical performance
External Relations & Professional Development (5%)
Maintain relationships with key external and internal stakeholders

Background Profile
Licensure and Certification- currently licensed or must be eligible and in the process of applying
Current MD/DO license (for physicians) OR Current FNP license with Masters or Doctoral degree in nursing (for Nurse Practitioners)
Minimum 5 years clinical experience in primary care setting and a minimum of 3 years leadership experience
Experience working with diverse populations
Familiarity with community health and integrated care models
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality measures, and risk management
