The role you’ll contribute:
The Inpatient Coding Quality Auditor, under general supervision of the Inpatient Operations Manager, is responsible for the daily auditing of records. The Inpatient Coding Quality Auditor works in collaboration with the Manager to ensure the integrity of coded data, the education and training of the inpatient coding staff, as well as being a resource to the entire organization on issues related to coded data. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Works collaboratively with the Clinical Documentation Improvement team to ensure our charts have consistent and clear documentation that accurately reflects what occurred during the inpatient admission.

1. Reviews records for DRG and overall coding accuracy retrospectively and concurrently as assigned by manager and/or Director.
2. Reviews and addresses all third party/Regulatory Agencies requests for DRG changes or quality studies.
3. Reviews monthly pre-bill accounts for coding accuracy and reporting to Corporate for scorecard.
4. Codes and abstract charts in accordance with ICD-10-CM conventions, applying coding rules applicable to AdventHealth West Florida Division and requirements of Medicare and payor specifications.
5. Assign DRGs on chart in accordance with all UHDDS rules, ICD-10 Coding Conventions, Guidelines and approved coding policies and procedures.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
1. Excellent communication skills
2. Progressive professional growth
3. Exhaustive knowledge of inpatient coding and working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MSDRG’s, APRDRG’s, HAC’s, POA indicators, CMI and all regulatory compliance requirements.
4. Excellent computer skills with a knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience coding inpatient records.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· CCS required. Will accept RHIA or RHIT in lieu of CCS
