The Research Project Manager serves as a team lead and is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, managing and reporting on multiple aspects of a research program. This position will develop and implement strategies that ensure timely advancement of the research program to meet intended goals and objectives while complying with all institutional, federal and state rules and regulations and funding constraints. Other duties include negotiating and monitoring project budgets, monitoring regulatory agencies, and assisting in writing proposals, grants, contracts and budgets.

Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) as the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas is uniquely positioned as one of the dominant cancer care providers to obtain baseline and follow-up biological samples from patients (e.g. tissue, blood, urine and stool) with well annotated clinical data from baseline through treatment, disease progression, and beyond. To realize this potential, the Texas Immuno-Oncology Biorepository (TIOB) was created. It is a state-wide multispecialty biorepository housed at both the Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Baylor University Medical Center and at the Vasicek Cancer Center in Temple Texas. The aim of this initiative is to harness the power of "big data" so we can help understand biological changes that occur in real-world patients across Texas.
Essential duties:
- Proactively manage operational aspects of the project including management of timeline, budget, collaborator relationship and resources
- Develop and execute project plan
- Leverage project management tool set to enable project execution
- Organize and lead regular project team meetings to drive progress, track and mitigate risks, resolve roadblocks, and review action items
- Develop, track, and analyze project key performance indicators including the effectiveness of implemented strategies
- Writes and assists in the development of proposals, grants, contracts and budgets for the department. Assists in writing abstracts and manuscripts.
- Develops program budgets and ensures that budget requirements are met, including review of program-related contracts and approval of invoices within the program budget. Implements and executes management decisions.
- Prepares supporting document including: brochures, case report forms, informed consent documents and components of an IND application. Reviews new protocols and other materials provided by the sponsor and gives input to the Principal Investigator (PI), as applicable, regarding clinical and research issues in order to determine financial and clinical feasibility.
- Serves as a program liaison with personnel involved in, or contributing to, the program to resolve barriers to the advancement of the program's strategic.
- Fosters relationships with external entities, including academia, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries; maintains current relationships and establishes new relationships with entities that can contribute to the objectives of the program.
- Conducts audits of research studies to check the accuracy, integrity and consistency of research studies.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Strong written and oral communication skill.
- Proven leadership skills in project management techniques.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage time-sensitive projects.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of developing, administering and implementing a clinical trial in compliance with sponsorship.
- Able to work independently and coordinate efficiently to meet program timelines.
- Ability to work in a matrix organization, manage resources, identify and resolve problems, think critically and efficiently to advance the program.
