Under limited supervision, calculates dose distributions for 3-D external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy including ultrasound guided prostate implants. Participates in complex dose calculations as required for intensity modulated radiotherapy. Participates in Physics projects, quality control and performance improvement projects.
Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)
SKILLS: Computer literacy, good organizational skills, good communication skills and a working knowledge of radiation safety. Ability to operate power tools.
EXPERIENCE: One year of experience working as a dosimetrist. Experience planning Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy treatments preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
Reports to: Chief Physicist and/or Director of Cancer Center
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogen B - Exposure to radiation, lead, cadmium, Hepatitis B, contagious diseases, infected wounds and needle puncture inherent in an acute care setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mobility required for moving rapidly, bending, stretching and lifting equipment of up to 35 lbs. Manual dexterity, good vision, hearing and speech.
