The PACU/CSA located in the Christiana Hospital - Newark is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to work 40 hours weekly (day/evening) Monday through Friday. This position requires some On-Call responsibilities (1-2 weeks per month) and some Weekend obligations, per department guidelines. This role provides administrative direction for clinical practice and cost-effective care delivery through the management of daily operations in all unit practice areas. The selected candidate will assume 24-hour accountability in conjunction with other members of the leadership team, including on-call and oversight of operations on all shifts
This role supports the Nurse Manager and the unit through the following competencies:
Supervising caregivers in all roles, including recruitment activities, education, payroll/timekeeping, performance management, conflict management, and positive discipline
Performance management and quarterly check-ins
Scheduling and daily staffing
Timekeeping and Payroll responsibilities
Supporting unit standards and professional practice
Collaboration with members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and advocate for resources/patients
Cost-effective resource management and budgeting to maintain productivity and efficiency
Facilitating staff meetings and daily huddles
Maintaining compliance with regulatory agency standards
Developing and implementing quality/performance improvement initiatives
Performing Cipher and Leader Rounding
Supporting professional governance and serving as a facilitator and resource for unit Practice Council
Supporting interdepartmental relationships/team building
Facilitating achievement of the organizational, service line, and department AOP goals and strategic aims
Requirements:
- Must have strong knowledge of all of our unit practice environments
- MSN preferred. Candidates with a BSN must enroll in MSN program, with completion within three years.
- RN required. Perianesthesia experience is required.
- 5 years of appropriate clinical and leadership experience
- Qualified applicants MUST have at least two years' experience of critical care or step-down units. ICU experience preferred.
- Must be flexible to large number of patients in the day due to level one trauma hospital
- Specialty certification required (CAPA/CPAN/CCRN and/or Nursing Leadership Certification preferred)
- BLS and ACLS Required
- PALS preferred - must get within 6 months
- TNCC preferred
