This individual will report to and collaborate with the Chief Quality, Patient Safety, and Clinical Analytics Officer (CQSO) and be responsible for setting the quality strategy, framework and agenda in FL and in partnership with DV, in addition to aligning with both the continuous improvement and innovation functions in the organization to create a continuum or functions to achieve operational and clinical excellence. Oversee implementation of activities in clinical quality improvement, clinical regulatory readiness, human factors related design and re-design, co-design and facilitate scalable innovation efforts, improvement related education and regulatory readiness.
- Direct the quality and innovation department. Collaborate with the CQSO and other senior leaders to identify priorities and develop strategic activities directly related to excellence in outcomes.
- Integrate a daily management system in quality and safety, adhere to leader methods and role model for the rest of the organization to influence culture.
- Develop a system to equip microsystems with the right methodologies and tools to accomplish goals and self-sustain improvement efforts.
- Develop and operationalize a framework of quality and quality improvement that focuses on clinical and operational services, departments, centers, and institutes to achieve transformational outcomes (meso-to meta-system focused).
- Serves as a bridge between departments that contain quality functions (innovation, continuous improvement, IDEA for example) and work to delineate roles, responsibilities, and tasks each will be responsible for in terms of execution, partnership, or deferral.
- Establishes, supervises, and mentors a cadre of quality improvement specialist, human factors, and regulatory staff.
- Describes departmental value and growth opportunities, sets the departmental organizational structure, and manages the operating budget.
- Serves as a coach and consultant to operational and clinical departments.
- Oversee the administration of QAPI activities for Nemours/Florida, in conjunction with senior leadership and the Board of Managers. Identify value based opportunities based on conditions, populations or measures.
- Represent Nemours Florida Quality program both internally and externally. This includes working with Children's Hospital Association, Solutions for Patient Safety, interfacing with The Joint Commission, AHRQ, AHCA and condition-specific collaboratives as assigned.
- Support academic work related to measurement and improvement in safety and quality as aligned with Nemours strategic plan.
- Partner with and advise analytic content for improvement efforts.
- Partner with counterparts across partnerships to align improvement efforts, learn and share with one another and advise on improvement efforts.
Qualifications- Master's degree in health-related field or MBA CPHQ preferred, but will accept related certificates or designations related to quality or change management. 3-5 years demonstrated interest and track record of participation as a leader in safety and quality improvements in a complex academic medical center Working knowledge of hospital practices and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines Formal training in safety/process improvement required. |
