Department OverviewThe Chaplaincy department provides support to families, spiritual assessment and working with families experiencing a crisis. In addition, the serve as an outreach to community clergy, facilitate in religious rituals in the hospital (I.e. baptism) and provide support to staff.
Position Summary
Provide spiritual and emotional support to children, families, and staff. Coordinate patient/family visits with community spiritual leaders and facilitate rituals as needed. Ability to provide inter-faith care to patients and families.
Specialized Chaplains (ex. muslim, shaman, American Indian spiritual leader, Buddhist etc.) will support the patient population they represent in addition to interfaith patient needs, as requested.
A graduate-level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or appropriate theological training recognized by one's faith tradition. Minimum of four units of clinical pastoral education (CPE). Provide documentation of current endorsement and/or ordination or letter of good standing in accordance with the requirements of one's own faith tradition. One-year hospital experience preferably with children. Must be Board Certified or eligible for board certification to be completed within the first two years of employment. Board Certification must be completed through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc. (BCCI). Chaplains are certified as board certified chaplains (BCC) or associate certified chaplains (ACC) according to established national qualifications, including a code of ethics.
