Job Summary:
Assesses, plans, configures, installs, maintains and documents electronic medical records (EMR) and business applications. Manages efforts to improve and adapt workflows and processes that adhere to the EMR model system and align with current best practice standards. Coordinates and collaborates among healthcare business service lines and Information Technology Services to resolve EMR and business application issues.. Assess customer education needs, organizes and provides training and support in effective use of business systems applications. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of EMR and business applications capabilities, functions, configuration, end user equipment, workflows, and business processes. Provides a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and optimizes the users' experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates advanced functional knowledge of the EMR, business applications, 3rd party applications, and interfaces between system.
Promptly and effectively responds to known or suspected system-based problems, or safety issues related to application use.
Leads and participates in multiple cross functional projects and implements project planning, communication, and coordination related to project success.
Provides assistance and reinforces training for system users.
Identifies and leads in the resolution of issues relating to business systems. Provides assessment of causes and recommends improvements. Documents and presents findings and recommendations.
Responds to user issues submitted to IT Service Desk as second-tier support and coordinates troubleshooting and problem resolution, including effectively engaging vendors and other support personnel. Initiates issue escalation as needed.
Creates and maintains system process documentation, upgrade documentation, and new release documentation.
Plans for and ensures applications configurations are up-to-date and effectively represent business and operational requirements.
Develops, executes, and documents test scripts for unit and end to end testing per standards.
Ensures that all software modifications/upgrades are working according to the EMR or business application specifications and meet regulatory compliance, federal, state, and/or local regulations.
Assists, mentors, and advises departmental application team members in accomplishing all activities necessary to support healthcare business information system applications.
Participates in the development of and follows departmental standards for software configuration, modifications, and quality assurance.
Remains current on industry trends and vendor/EMR/application updates.
Conducts and participates in team, project, departmental, and other meetings. Coordinates and reports relevant issues and updates as needed.
Communicates clearly and effectively with all levels including leadership, providers, clinicians, end users, team members, and vendors.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations including the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
Develops and maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
Consistently demonstrates a professional, self-directed approach to responsibilities.
Performs on call duty after hours support in emergency or planned maintenance scenarios as required.
Accepts additional responsibilities as assigned.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Coordinates efforts to develop processes and applications design to ensure regulatory compliance, and federal, state and local regulations and standards are met.
Communicates and complies with the Benefis Health System Mission, Vision and Values as well as the focus statement of the department.
Complies with Benefis Health System Organization Policies and Procedures.
Complies with Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required or suitable work experience.
5 years working experience in a health care setting.
5 years experience as analyst supporting healthcare with demonstrated understanding of business practices.
At least 1 year of EMR Project and/or EMR Team Lead experience preferred.
Must complete all required application course work and obtain applicable EMR certification within three months of assignment.
Previous experience with the primary healthcare EMR system vendor is preferred.
Revenue cycle, patient access, or HIM experience preferred.
