Medical Director of Graduate Medical Education
Assistant DIO for Delaware Campus, Sidney Kimmel Medical College

This candidate must hold a DO or MD license.
Overall responsibilities:
The Nemours Medical Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME) has local responsibility for oversight of all Nemours residencies/fellowships and works with The Designated Institutional Official (DIO) at Thomas Jefferson University's Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine to ensure adequate communication and adherence to established policies. The Director works with the Executive Director of GME and GME coordinators to ensure adherence to ACGME guidelines, supporting program directors (PDs) with intra-divisional or department issues and serving as a resource for issues that cross divisions and departments. The Director of GME is also responsible for ensuring the adequacy of the joint fellowship curriculum and working with the joint fellowship curriculum leadership to enhance its value to the learners. Although the scope of the position is not entirely within the Department of Pediatrics, the Director of GME reports to the Chair of Pediatrics and works collaboratively with the DIO.
Responsibilities:
Administrative
- Assist with administration of GME structure and programs, including development of budget and monitoring expenses for GME, developing photo roster, working with GME administrative team
- Approve all Nemours trainees/Fellows (physicians, pharmacy, behavioral health, etc - excluding nursing)
- Approve all Educational Visitors and Observers to Nemours
- Review and approve all contracts with educational partners, institutions sending trainees
- Work within established HR guidelines to establish salaries and benefits for fellows
- Participate in internal and external reviews of programs
- Work with Nemours national office on issues related to GME
- Submit report to Medical Executive Committee semi-annually about GME at Nemours
ACGME
- Ensure that fellow/resident work hours meet ACGME regulations.
- Assist with ACGME site visits
- Lead monthly Nemours GME Committee
- Attend monthly GME Committee meetings at TJUH and quarterly meetings with CCHS
- Monitor success and deficiencies of our fellowships (ACGME surveys and Board pass rates).
Work with Fellowship Programs and Pediatric Residency Program
- Assist PDs in the management of conflicts/grievances involving fellows/residents
- Assist PDs with policies and procedures for fellows/residents
- Work with Nemours to develop strategy for GME
- Organize retreats, Orientation, Graduation for fellows
- Assist with development of training courses for fellows (statistics and Core Curriculum)
- Assist PDs in managing trainees who need discipline, Performance Improvement Plan, remediation
- Assist PDs when changes are planned for fellowships/residencies (e.g. changes in complement, development of new programs)
- Review and edit Program Information Forms for all new fellowships
- Support PDs when advocating for fellows/residents (e.g. adequate workspace and call rooms)
