We have an amazing opportunity to work as a Sterile Processing Tech (Part Time). The St. Louis Children’s Specialty Care Centers are outpatient facilities located in west and south St. Louis Counties. The centers are focused exclusively on providing the very best care for our young patients. We provide a range of outpatient pediatric medical services including general surgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, urologic and plastic surgery.
This opportunity will mainly support the west county facility. You will occassionally provide coverage at our south county location as well.

Preferred QualificationsRole Purpose
The Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of central sterile processing functions, which include the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to the operating room (OR) and other areas throughout the hospital. Required to maintain and control both sterile and non-sterile supplies, and identify and remedy equipment and process failures and hazards while maintaining the appropriate and complete records.
Responsibilities
- Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule.
- Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers.
- Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process.
- Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards.
- Ensures instrumentation is reassembled correctly and functioning properly.
- BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
