Prisma Health seeks a collaborative, distinguished and experienced leader to serve as the Chair, Department of Medicine for Prisma Health Medical Group, Upstate and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville. The Chair will lead by creating a unifying vision for the advancement and growth of clinical services and regional expansion of care delivery, strengthening educational programs, and fostering research within a nationally recognized health system and medical school.

Established in 2017 through the merger of Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health, Prisma Health was created to best serve patients and their families. Today, the System and Medical Group has two regions: Columbia/Sumter (the Midlands) and Greenville (the Upstate). Prisma Health, comprised of 18 hospitals, generates annual revenues of more than $5.7 billion and is home to over 30,000 dedicated team members.

Under the umbrella of the Prisma Health Medical Group – Upstate and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville, the Department of Medicine serves as Prisma Health's largest clinical department, comprised of over 500 faculty who provide comprehensive clinical services across 19 divisions. The department delivers high-quality clinical services, top-performing educational programs, and promotes research and scholarship.

Leading the Department of Medicine, the Chair will formulate a strategy to expand clinical services and provide high-quality care across a large system and geographic footprint. The Chair will understand and foster an academic environment that promotes the advancement of faculty and embrace and progress the educational mission while ensuring a commitment to research and scholarship.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and must demonstrate an ability to work and collaborate with other leaders across Prisma Health and the School of Medicine. Candidates must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree, board certification in internal medicine and warrant qualification for appointment to Professor at the School of Medicine.
