WittKieffer has partnered with Phelps Health, a leading health system serving the communities in south-central Missouri, in the search for its next Chief Medical Officer of Phelps Health Medical Group. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary physician leader to join a healthcare enterprise that is characterized by a shared sense of purpose and focus on providing high quality, safe and cost-effective care.

The Phelps Health Medical Group is a patient centered medical group practice of over 100 providers across 7 locations/facilities (St. James, Salem, Waynesville, Bass, Center and Rolla). The group is focused on providing comprehensive care across a broad range of specialties and services. The Phelps team of experienced providers saw over 225,000 patients and performed just under 9,000 surgeries and procedures last year. Phelps Health is led by compassionate, dedicated and well-respected professionals in the health care industry and community.

Reporting to the President/Chief Executive Officer of Phelps Health, the Chief Medical Officer will have oversight for all matters related to provider performance and will enhance a culture that promotes the highest quality of care across all sites. This physician leader will continue to build a cohesive, high-performing medical group that is focused on service excellence and continuous improvement. Through the development of successful performance improvement standards and practices, the Chief Medical Officer will succeed in creating a highly attractive practice environment for physicians and all clinical providers.

The Chief Medical Officer will provide strategic and visionary input to transform the care delivery model, creating a standardized, evidence-based approach to patient care and a more consistent patient experience through the enhancement of clinical integration and care coordination across all clinic sites. Establishing immediate credibility in ways that create trust and followership among physicians and other stakeholders will be critical for this new leader. The Chief Medical Officer will be an effective ambassador in representing system initiatives and articulating and delivering the value proposition for medical group participation.

The Chief Medical Officer will be an experienced physician leader, with clinical credibility and a distinct vision for the integrated medical group. They will be a leader who can clearly and comfortably communicate with and collaborate with physicians of various backgrounds and administrators at various levels, while formulating an approach to infrastructure and systems to support a high-performing medical group. This individual will have a track record of success building and developing effective and efficient medical group structures and developing excellent physician relationships. The Chief Medical Officer will be expected to maintain a part-time clinical practice.
