Position Summary
The Associate General Counsel I is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel on general corporate, commercial, health law, and regulatory matters for Children's Minnesota. The role will serve as a primary legal business partner to assigned functions.
General Responsibilities:
*Contract preparation, review, and negotiation for various corporate, commercial, or clinical matters designed to improve the delivery of health care;
*Perform regulatory analysis, including HIPAA privacy and security standards, fraud and abuse laws such as the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law, CMS rules, and tax-exemption issues;
*Provide advice and counsel on general health system, healthcare, corporate, commercial, and other matters on a wide range of transactional and operational issues; and
*Assist the senior attorneys on complex strategic transactional matters as assigned.
This position is primarily remote but is required to travel to Minneapolis/St Paul/Edina campuses as needed. This remote position, is for an employee to live in MN or WI.
*Superior academic performance
*Must be a member, in good standing, of the Minnesota Bar (or ability to become admitted within one year of hire)
*Two to four years of responsibility providing legal services in a government or corporate setting, a health care organizational setting, or to health care clients in a law firm setting
*Demonstrated experience in general corporate, commercial, and healthcare transactional matters
*Demonstrated experience analyzing state and federal laws and regulations related to hospitals, health systems, and health care
*Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships across an organization, at all levels
*Strong attention to detail and a commitment to client service and excellence consistent with Children's Minnesota's mission and values
*Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, complete assigned tasks, meet deadlines, think clearly under pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
*Strong commitment to and centering of organizational and professional ethics
*Reliably sound judgment
*Within a remote work environment, the demonstrated ability to work well in teams and offer positive, constructive, solutions-oriented ideas to clients and other team members
*Strong communication skills
Preferred Experience:
*Tax-exempt organizations and non-profit board governance
*Telemedicine
*Physician contracting
*Regulatory experience and knowledge in the areas of healthcare, privacy, security, and government healthcare programs
