Overview
The Northwest Permanente (NWP) Associate Program is an opportunity for qualified local allopathic and osteopathic medical school students interested in adult primary care and psychiatry residencies. The program is designed to provide exceptional students a paid opportunity to participate in complex health systems management during their medical school careers. Associates will collaborate closely with experts in quality improvement, health finance, and patient care. Each will oversee a project with mentoring and support from their assigned preceptor and the NWP GME/UME (Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education) team. Note: This position is a full-time non-benefited temporary position with a 3-5 month commitment. The deadline to apply for this position is November 3, 2023.Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Provide project management support
- Shadow in clinic 1-2 days per week with a longitudinal mentor
- Meet regularly with a faculty mentor to discuss projects and learnings
- Document and record project progress
- Provide other technical and project support duties as assigned
Minimum Education
- Allopathic or Osteopathic medical student who has completed their required course work mid year - before graduation and starting residency
Additional Requirements
- Student within 6 months of medical school graduation
- In good standing at their medical school and receiving residency when they begin work
- Commitment to enter training programs in adult primary care (IM/FM/Med-Peds) or psychiatry
