The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating clinical operations at the Ambulatory Facility. The DON reports directly to the Facility Administrator and collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure operational compliance with state regulations, standards of practice, and clinical guidelines. The DON facilitates recruitment, orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development of nursing services associates.
The DON facilitates, coordinates, and directs patient care services. He/she is responsible for the planning, development and utilization of human and material resources to meet the needs of patients, families, and associates. The DON is responsible for leading Quality Assurance and Improvement, Infection Prevention, and Patient Safety identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations, and implementing actions as appropriate.
The DON reports to the Administrator. In the absence of the Administrator, he/she reports to the Medical Director and organizational leadership. In the absence of the Administrator, the DON will assume the role of the Administrator and designate in writing an RN to assume charge responsibilities.
This primary position at Nemours Children's Hospital, Surgery Center, Malvern, will include collaboration with Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware and Nemours Children's Hospital, Surgery Center, Deptford to optimize available resources in achieving optimal patient outcomes. This position may require periodic travel to the previously referenced facilities. Travel is compensated based on organizational policy.
This position requires active registered nurse (RN) licensure in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey, and current Pennsylvania Clearances to include FBI Fingerprint Report, PA Criminal Background Record, & Child Abuse Clearance.
This position requires working hours aligned with the needs of the facility. This position also includes 24 hour accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains knowledge of, adherence to, and enforcement of all policies of the ambulatory facility
- 2. Participates in all surveys and inspections by the Department of Acute and Ambulatory Care, Life Safety, Centers for Medicare/Medicaid, and AAAHC.
- Accepts accountability for delivery of nursing services provided to patients and families within the ambulatory facility.
- Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care.
- Creates a climate of effective collaboration and communication.
- Responsible for coordination and scheduling of the facility nursing services in conjunction with services of other health care disciplines ensuring appropriate utilization of human resources.
- Participates in recruitment, selection, and retention of facility associates.
- Ensures appropriate orientation, education, competency, and continuing professional development for facility associates.
- Provides direct patient care in clinical areas as needed.
- Acts as the Infection Control Officer
Qualifications:
- Mater's Degree required
- PA RN License upon hire; Application for DE and NJ RN License within 6 months from the date of hire - or compact license
- American Heart Association BLS and PALS upon hire; Schedule ACLS within 6 months from the date of hire
- Preferred - CNOR; CNAMB
