Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Grants Specialist. Under the direction of the OSP Manager, Grants Administration & Pre-Award the Grants Specialist performs a wide range of key functions in the grant development and submission process. The Grants Specialist provides support to the Manager of Grants Administration in administering all federal and non-profit grant proposals and awards which includes document preparation, budget development collaboration, sub-recipient monitoring risk assessment, managing pipeline of pending grants assigned, and coordination with award manager and PI's regarding grant related projects. The Grants specialist will work across all Nemours sites and program areas (research and non-research), including collaborating with accounting, OSP award specialists, award managers, contracts officer, PI's, and research administration leadership to ensure effective and efficient grants management processes. Incumbent should maintain considerable knowledge of federal guidelines, institutional policies and procedures pertaining to external funding and awards funding.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitates grant efforts, in coordination with OSP award manager and PI. Ensures timelines are met.
- Reviews, edits and organizes grant documents in preparation for submission.
- Maintain expert knowledge of sponsor guidelines and procedures by reviewing proposals and preparing them for submission
- Monitors outstanding grant proposals. Follows up with funding agency as needed. Maintain status/tracking reports of all pending and submitted proposals.
- Identify and recommend action to resolve proposal content that may be in conflict with Nemours policies and procedures.
- Perform sub-recipient monitoring risk assessment review and provide recommendation and escalation to grants officer and OSP director as needed.
- Ensure that knowledge of Nemours and sponsor guidelines are kept current.
- Maintain expertise and provide expert assistance and guidance regarding the use sponsor electronic grant processing systems (eRA, Assist, and Research.gov) as a backup. Keep current on all revisions to those systems utilized and learn to effectively use any systems that are developed for proposal development and submission.
- Perform reviews of the award documents and award notifications throughout the grant and/or contract process via InfoEd in preparation for submission to grants officer
- Mail/submit the proposal to sponsor
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years with Research Administration (pre and/or post award) strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Experience in an academic or non-academic research healthcare organization, Advanced grants management and post-award experience
