Position Overview
The Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) Information Services (IS) Planning, Finance and Administration function encompasses: (1) the IS Planning Operations team, which provides intake, triage, and governance for IS project demands; (2) the IS Project Management Office (PMO) which provides oversight of project execution, project tool and standards, and project quality; (3) the IS Finance team, which handles IS financial budgeting, forecasting, and financial support; and (4) the IS Administration team which provides administrative support to IS leadership and assists with human resources and facilitates management.
The Manager, Shared Services Portfolio Management is a leader in the IS PMO function who is responsible for (1) providing oversight of project execution for projects in the Shared Services application portfolio, which includes finance, supply chain, legal, human resources, public safety, etc. projects; (2) ensuring project managers working in their portfolio are trained and follow the IS PMO standards for tools, quality and communications; and (3) working with BSWH project business sponsors to resolve conflicts and ensure successful project execution. The role requires a person who must be action and results-oriented, a "take-charge" leader with strong communications (written and spoken), leadership, negotiating and project management skills.
Job Duties
Key responsibilities for the Manager, Shared Services Portfolio Management role include:
· Provides oversite to Managed Service Providers, contract, and BWSH project managers.
· Accountability for ensuring successful project execution in assigned portfolio.
· Ensures all project managers adhere to all IS PMO standards and tools.
· Assists IS PMO team with development of standards and tools.
· Develops deeper understanding of the healthcare industry relative to the assigned portfolio and BSWH operations.
· Manage artifacts, decisions, communications, metrics and reporting for assigned portfolio area.
· Builds strong relationships within BSWH business leaders and IS leaders to understand the business challenges and opportunities for assigned portfolio area.
Performance Standards
Key attributes of a successful Manager, Shared Services Portfolio Management candidate includes:
• Core understanding of Project Management Institute (PMI) concepts and processes.
• Understanding of waterfall, agile, and hybrid project methodologies.
• People and team building skills.
• Organization and coordination skills.
• Detail oriented and a self-starter.
• Running effective meetings and getting buy-in and participation from executive leaders.
• Effectively working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of applications, IT technology and processes used in a healthcare setting.
• Basic financial and business acumen.
• Willingness to continually learn.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Prior experience for a successful Manager, Shared Services Portfolio Management candidate includes:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems, Business, or related fields is required.
• Experience as a project manager in finance, supply chain, legal, human resources, public safety, etc. and healthcare is required.

Reporting Structure
The Manager, Shared Services Portfolio Management will report to the Director, IS Project Management & Operations within BSWH’s Information Services group.
