Summary:
Functions in the Operating Room to ensure the efficient management of the daily surgery schedule, and is responsible for all clerical functions - registration through post case data collection.Other information:
Previous experience in computerized scheduling. Minimum of 2 years clerical experience.Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Ability to run errands throughout facility. Ability to deal with crisis situations.Excellent communication skills.Responsibilities:
Demonstrates proficiency with the ORSOS scheduling process and established guidelines--block scheduling; open scheduling; accuracy of case data; adherence to available case time hours and/or can access ORSOS for patient data, print schedules (long and short versions, and volunteer schedules. Demonstrates proficiency with the Invision patient registration process. Able to pre-admit patients for TBS status. Passed mandatory registration competency 1 & 2. On own initiative completed National Association of Health Access Management (NAHAM) and Certified Healthcare Access Associate exam (CHAA) for certification and have maintained certification. Prepares and enters all patient charges as per established guidelines for the post case data collection process with error rate of 2% or lower and/or maintain 100% face sheet completed with Advanced Directive on all outpatients. Communicates special equipment/instruments/supply requests to the Materials Specialists--refers conflicts and procedural questions to the Materials Specialists, OR Desk/Charge RN, and/or department Nurse Managers and/or communicates to OR desk any changes in OR schedule and need for authorization # prior to patient having surgery. Maintain 100 % compliance with pre-authorization process. Notifies department Nurse Managers and/or Director with problems. Maintain 100% Spanish and English consent forms, authorization for treatment and properly filled out by patient with your guidance. Demonstrates proficiency with office equipment--FAX machine, copy machine, computer printer. Answers telephone in a professional manner, communicates messages appropriately, and initiates telephone calls as required. Prepares PAT patient folder/chart efficiently ad proficiently--appropriate perioperative papers and delivers to Anesthesia Dept. for review and signing off in a timely manner. Communicates with MD office staff to ensure presence of required papers and information is accurate on the scheduling form and/or the need for correct authorization # for procedure being done with correct insurance.Competencies and skills:
