OverviewBJC Home Care offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high-tech respiratory care. Specialty home care programs also are available, including adult and pediatric asthma, cardiac, diabetes, orthopedic and wound care programs.
BJC Home Care provides care to thousands of patients in both Missouri and Illinois. Serving more than 25 counties, it has become the largest home care network in the region and one of the largest in the country.Hospice, the final stage of BJC's continuum of care, is a special kind of caring for patients with a life-limiting illness. Services are provided in the comfort of the patient's home or skilled nursing facility. The Hospice staff are sensitive to the physical, psychosocial, emotional and spiritual needs of terminally ill adult and pediatric patients and their families. We provide a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals and volunteers, specially trained in symptom management, pain control, counseling and bereavement services for the dying. Our Hospice services include alternative therapies such as music, art and massage therapy. Our Hospice programs provide palliative care by helping patients manage their pain and symptoms while living their lives with daily peace and dignity.
Preferred QualificationsRole Purpose
Responsible for the strategic direction, oversight and overall operations of the Hospice agency. Entrusted to lead and manage an interdisciplinary team of hospice care providers, ensuring the highest level of care in an efficient and cost effective manner. Expected to manage all aspects of the operation resulting in meeting or exceeding company goals related to quality, operations, finances and employee retention. Supports business development and market growth strategies of the Hospice program and organization.
Responsibilities
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
- Develops, establishes and updates strategic business plans, including current and long range goals, objectives, plans and policies, to support organizational practices and goals. Delivers on goals and achieves results.
- Provides advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans, standards and procedures, consistent with established policies and organizational goals.
- Ensures the highest quality of care is provided and is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and established departmental policies and procedures. Oversees the implementation of agency policies and procedures.
- Researches, identifies, and implements best practice models to support organization initiatives and strategic plans. Monitors the allocation and utilization of agency resources based on continual changes in patient population/needs and provides the best level of patient care while optimizing efficiencies and cost management.
- Works with health care providers outside of the agency to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum and organizational goals. Acts as a liaison between staff, patients, physicians, and other health care providers.
