Job Summary:
The Director of Compliance reports to the Assistant Vice President (AVP), in the oversight of the WMC Health Network Compliance Program, specifically the WMC Health locations in Orange and Rockland County. The Director is responsible for the compliance and privacy program including but not limited to daily operations of the program; development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures; training and awareness, monitoring program compliance; investigation and tracking of incidents and breaches and insuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws for these locations.
Responsibilities:
* Leads Compliance staff, communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures to direct reports, colleagues, and other stakeholders.* Participates with leadership in the development and implementation of the Annual Corporate Compliance Work Plan based on an internal risk assessment and federal and state initiatives.* Provides consultation and guidance to leadership on compliance and privacy issues.* Prepares applicable training materials for training of new employees; conducts annual mandatory training programs and periodic in services for staff.* Create and maintains current Compliance and HIPAA policies, Compliance Manual and Code of Conduct documents recommending changes as indicated by new regulations.* Maintains knowledge of current legislation and regulations regarding compliance issues and recommends policy adjustments as indicated. * Leads complex investigations and responds to violations of compliance issues and collaborates with the AVP and senior management as appropriate for resolution.* Maintains records of investigations, prepares trend analyses and provides reports for management and regulatory agencies. * Assists in the supervision of investigational activities of federal, state and local enforcement authorities. * Identifies high risk areas for review and prepares the related remedial actions or audit plan.* Develops strong relationships with leadership to identify and recommend risk areas for auditing and work collaboratively to mitigate risk.* Works closely with the AVP on network compliance related activities.* Collaborates with other departmental staff in the implementation of corrective action plans and takes proactive measures to avoid and/ or resolve conflicts that may arise.* Provide HIPAA Privacy guidance and oversee HIPAA training. Qualifications/Requirements: Demonstrated ability to successfully lead work initiatives that require collaboration between mutidisciplinary departments; skilled in analysis, problem solving and critical thinking; ability to work efficiently and independently, meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of healthcare Compliance/Privacy experience in an academic medical center or healthcare related field, with at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, required.Advanced degree in a Business, Finance or Healthcare related field, preferred.
Licenses / Certifications:
Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy (CHPC), preferred
