Job Description:
Reporting to the Chief Clinical Operations Officer, this key position will provide leadership and oversees the operations of all laboratories within Great River Health. This highly visible leader will be responsible for fostering a culture of innovation, safety, patient experience, staff engagement, quality, accreditation, and financial performance. Oversight includes staffing, budgeting, equipment acquisition and maintenance, as well as departmental policies and procedures. Works with the Laboratory Medical Leadership to assure high quality and accurate patient test results are provided in a safe and timely manner. Responsible for laboratory test management for the health system, and ensures the staff adhere to state, federal, regulatory agencies’ rules, laws, and regulations. Maintains ongoing communication with administration, medical staff, other departments to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective and safe laboratory testing.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related science field.
- 10 years previous healthcare laboratory leadership experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a high complexity CAP accredited laboratory
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience working in a health system with multiple facilities
- Preferred:
- Experience with Cerner preferred
- Clinical laboratory experience is preferred
- Recent health care experience within the last five years preferred
