Summary:
The Clinical Informatics demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for informatics, supporting the Health Informatics Department vision and strategic goals of CHRISTUS Health. The Clinical Informatics is responsible for assisting in the operation and administration of clinical information systems, collaborating with clinical and technical associates to enhance workflow methodology and tools. The Clinical Informatics maintains an end-user centric focus when contributing to the system; this includes analysis, testing, documentation, education, evaluation, implementation, and optimization activities to enhance technology adoption and efficiencies that improve workflow and patient safety. The Clinical Informatics provides continuous support to identify opportunities for clinical information system improvement. This position is exempt.
- Collaborate with Clinical Informatics colleagues across the enterprise to drive strategic goals and vision for the department and CHRISTUS Health
- Collaborate with Clinical Informatics colleagues to focus on standardized best practice workflow processes and clinical content to ensure alignment across all ministries, to create efficiencies and improve patient safety
- Contribute to knowledge transfer and dissemination of best practices across the ministries through the use of information structures, information processes, and information technology
- Assess clinicians for efficient and effective maximization of clinical information systems as it relates to patient care, user satisfaction, clinical productivity and quality outcomes
- Collaborate with Clinical Informatics colleagues in the development and/or revision of initiatives or programs. These may be related to data collection, retrieval, analysis and interpretation to assist in optimizing patient outcomes and/or effectiveness and efficiency
- Understand and articulate the connection and links between and throughout various clinical and business workflows supported by Clinical Information Systems/EHR platforms, and other clinical applications
- Identify and implement improvement opportunities with workflow processes and clinical information systems as they relate to the practice of clinicians/providers
- Provide end-user support to clinicians, using critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrate sound understanding of clinical practice as it pertains to the integration of clinical information systems and its impact on end users
- Lead training efforts of clinicians and providers in the use of clinical systems and tools to support patient care
- Identify end-user education and competency needs in the use of electronic tools for patient care. Assure the development of appropriate education and competency validation plans for new hires, on-going education, and specific initiatives
- Provide on-going end user clinical Health Information System education and support, with all upgrades, new releases, and enhanced functionality
- Perform clinical content reviews and collaborate with clinical teams to identify clinical system changes/needs
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and private laws and regulations through the identification of content experts in quality and compliance for all states in which CHRISTUS Health is present, in relation to clinical documentation and electronic medical records
- Communicate to clinical end users system changes, new functionality, workflow process changes, downtime procedures and etc.
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements/optimizations utilizing identified change management processes
- Responsible for monitoring EHR Regulatory compliance and escalating identified issues/concerns through proper chain of command
- Foster relationships with ministry leadership and departments such as Information Management, Quality, Case Management, Revenue Cycle, and Finance to ensure effective communication, to meet business and financial requirements
- Responsible for other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with a healthcare designation (i.e. RN, RRT, RHIT, LVN, etc.) strongly preferred or 4 years of clinical experience in lieu of degree.
- Certification/Certificate in informatics – OR – Previous clinical application experience preferred
- Extensive MS Office Skills required
- Strong management and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Three years clinical experience, previous clinical applications experience or certification in informatics
- Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office products and knowledge of current Health Information System (HIS) platform, recommended
- Strong knowledge of clinical information systems, data management and administration
- Clinical practice experience and clinical documentation knowledge
- Knowledge of hospital practices and procedures as well as laws, regulation, and guidelines pertaining to practice standards and regulatory requirements
- Strong verbal, written skills and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently as a member of a team
- Valid Driver's License
- Current valid Professional license if applicable
- Registrations, certifications and/or licensures commensurate with modules assigned (i.e. RN, RPh, CPhT, MT, etc.)
