Manager of Strategic Planning – Phoenix Children’s - Hybrid

The Manager of Strategic Planning is responsible for creating/implementing project work plans, managing planning processes, and completing deliverables supporting business development and strategic planning. The Manager develops the infrastructure and systematic processes for collecting, reporting, and analyzing market demographic, competitor activity/trends, and industry, regulatory, Legislative, and economic factors. Phoenix Children's must anticipate successfully continuing its growth as a regional pediatric health system. Establishing a robust set of tools, processes, and methods for reporting and analysis is essential to create business programs and strategic plans for Phoenix Children's. This position is charged with the development and maintenance of relevant data and the methods for analysis used by the Strategic Planning Team. Responsibilities include building collaborative relationships within Phoenix Children's management teams and physician leaders and providing functional direction or project oversight for business development or strategic planning as the VP of Strategic Planning and SVP/CSO assigned. The Manager supervises the planning analysts to advance the essential duties summarized above.
- Develops new and refines existing analytical techniques, templates, and resources to enable effective business planning, including market forecasting, competitive intelligence, operational review, and financial analysis. Continually reviews and reports market and financial data reflecting the hospital's clinical growth opportunities. Proactively communicates challenges and issues. Develops presentations for leadership with findings and recommendations.
- Produces reports and analyses that support the organization, its operating units, and divisions to identify areas of opportunity to grow and better serve its markets and threats that need to be anticipated and overcome as part of an annual planning cycle (in conjunction with finance and operations) and on projects as assigned.
- Builds a team of capable analysts with the use of appropriate Human Resource policies and tools to facilitate and ensure the ability of the staff within the area of strategic planning to establish clear development plans for building and growing their skills and support them in their work for PC and in pursuit of their individual professional aspirations.
- As a part of a project team, develops detailed work plans, highlighting key deliverables, accountabilities, interdependencies, and timelines.
- Manages planning process and work plans for assigned projects, facilitates, or assists in committee/work group meetings.
- Assures the data and methods for analyzing markets, programs, and services are sound and used responsibly to support decision-making.
- Proactively monitors and reports progress against work plans/objectives for assigned business development and strategic plan deliverables. Analyzes to determine risks, concerns, and deficiencies; provides alternative tactics and strategies as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field.
- Master's degree in Health Services Administration. MBA or related advanced degree (equivalent and relevant work experience will be considered).
- Five (5) years of healthcare experience in health care strategy, business planning, business advisory, financial planning, feasibility, Business and financial modeling, benchmarking, or analysis role. (Administrative Fellowship or relevant post-graduate work is equivalent to work experience).
- Three (3) or more years of experience leading project teams.
