Description
A postdoctoral scholar position is available in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. Dr. Vicki Hertzberg, Professor, and Dr. Roxana Chicas, Assistant Professor, are leading a translational research study to evaluate a biopatch and associated software tools to evaluate human risk of heat related illness. This project, supported by an NIH grant award, includes a field study in outdoor workers in Florida. The incumbent will be working with the collaborative research team to support the translational research and field study. This candidate will receive training in independent study design, carrying out field epidemiology research, result summary, data analysis and report, and preparing manuscripts for publications and research grant applications.Responsibilities* Conducting research projects to evaluate hardware and software tools to determine risk of heat-related illness in outdoor workers. * Performing result summary, data analysis, and report, * Preparing manuscripts for publication.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator which include: Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida and a doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Fluency in medical Spanish. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. **Must be able to temporarily relocate to Florida occasionally for field work.**
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Ph.D. degree in nursing or epidemiology * English/Spanish bilingual* Less than 2 years of previous postdoctoral experience.* A productive track record with peer-reviewed publications.* Highly motivated in scientific research.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Good teamwork ability.
