Enterprise Analytics is focused on helping the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) enterprise solve its most complex problems. We recruit team members with strong analytical and communication skills and diligently invest in their growth, learning, and development.
We partner with VUMC leadership to help answer their most pressing questions. We create replicable and reliable analyses and help define the "source of truth" for metrics in collaboration with teams across the medical center. We approach each project with the end in mind, work with business partners to thoughtfully frame the problem, agree on ideal outcomes, and use the data to provide actionable, meaningful information.
JOB SUMMARY
This is a full-time/non-exempt term position with potential temp-to-hire. The Analytics Consultant (AC) is responsible for all aspects of analytical project planning, execution, and delivery, under occasional guidance. The AC provides a single point of contact for clinical, operational, and administrative customers and aids them in defining the scope and objective(s) of requested projects.
Note: This role is eligible for remote work within the United States.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the Enterprise Analytics team, the Analytics Consultant:
- works in alignment with team principles and utilizes key resources, including the analytics problem-solving methodology
- develops comprehensive project plans to ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently
- gathers and integrates all appropriate data, conducts analyses, chooses appropriate data outputs and visualizations, and effectively communicates findings to customers
- adheres to the highest of quality standards and maintains appropriate project and compliance documentation

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
Below are the expectations of an ideal / fully functioning AC. We understand that many new ACs may not initially possess all of these skills and may need additional training in certain areas, especially technical areas.- Data Acquisition (Novice): Can successfully determine which data are needed, identify the correct tables and elements, write the SQL code to pull the data, and extract the data for analysis. Performs quality control on the data. May have working knowledge in data warehouse applications (such as Oracle, Netezza, IBM UDMH, Azure Databricks, and EPIC).
- Data Analytics (Novice): Can analyze and interpret data to derive insight. Applies the appropriate approach to provide creative solutions for the given problem. May have working knowledge in business intelligence and analytics software (such as Tableau, Business Objects, PowerBI, Excel, Python, and R).
- Communication of Results (Novice): Communicates results and recommendations to customers in a concise and non-technical format. Clearly states implications and potential next steps. Presents analysis, ideas, and findings using the appropriate data visualization and presentation tools (such as Word, Excel, Tableau, and PowerPoint).
- Planning (Intermediate): Plans work to complete projects on time. Competently handles multiple assignments simultaneously. Able to be flexible to meet changing customer needs with minimal disruption and loss of productivity. Uses time efficiently.
- Stakeholder Engagement (Novice): Identifies relevant customers and gains their commitment on the final deliverable and timeline. Takes initiative to turn business concepts into meaningful objectives using the problem-solving methodology.

- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and 3 years experience

Sensory- Occasional: Vision: Clarity of near vision at 20 inches or less and far vision at 20 feet or more with depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision.
- Occasional: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.
- Continuous: Communication: Expressing or exchanging written/verbal/electronic information.
Environmental Conditions- Occasional: Chemicals and Gasses: Medications, cleaning chemicals, oxygen, other medical gases used in work area.
- Occasional: Pathogens: Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other contagious illnesses.
- Occasional: Radiation: May be exposed to occupational radiation, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Radiation Safety Program which includes training, use of personal protective equipment with lead shielding, and personal dose monitoring.
