About the Opportunity
SSM Health, a nationally renowned Catholic health care system serving the upper Midwest is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as its Regional Vice President of Ambulatory Care in Wisconsin. As an integrated and clinically driven organization, the Regional Vice President of Ambulatory Care is responsible for the operational performance of clinical areas within the organization. The ideal candidate will develop and implement both short- and long-term operational goals and plans while ensuring alignment with broader regional and system priorities. This leader will effectively translate initiatives into timely action plans with measurable performance using industry best practices and standard KPIs to lead, direct, and drive operational excellence and standard work across the region. This servant leader will have a spirit of continuous improvement implementing feedback loop mechanisms designed to refine and optimize processes to promote high customer satisfaction levels all the while optimizing population health outcomes.

Interrelationships: Regional Chief Clinical Officer & System Vice President of Medical Group Operations
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Serves as a senior member of leadership for Regional Medical Group Operations, providing strategic direction on operational issues. Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic and matrixed executive environment while promoting team engagement and collaboration across the organization. Maintains positive relationships while demonstrating effective problem-solving skills.
- Coordinates regional initiatives and oversees coordination of ambulatory operations with acute care operations for initiatives spanning both care settings.
- Partners with Regional Chief Clinical Officer on the integration and delivery of value across the care continuum, including regional initiatives to deliver on SSM Health’s value proposition, regional alignment with value-based care activities and change management.
- Partners with Regional Chief Clinical Officer to oversee and advance regional Population Health performance, including Risk Pool Performance, Pay for Performance Contracts, and Integrated Delivery Network integrity.
- Regularly displays and encourages ethical behavior in the areas of business ethics, legal compliance, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, vendor relationships and the reporting of questionable activities.
- Leads employees and providers to meet goals and performance metrics related to quality, patient satisfaction, provider and staff satisfaction, growth, and financial performance. Engages leadership and subject matter experts in the development and implementation of system initiatives. Creates an environment in which effective communication and responsiveness to customer needs are priorities.
- Oversees human resource management for the assigned area creating a culture of employee engagement. Mentors leaders in career growth and participates in succession planning efforts. Promotes team building and collaboration. Motivates, encourages, and empowers staff to achieve personal, organizational and team goals.
- Oversees the development and implementation of governance and leadership structures in collaboration with senior executives. Develops and implements policies and procedures that address hospital and service line functions. Ensures compliance with confidentiality policies and procedures. Assumes fiscal responsibility through budgetary planning and implementation.
- Implements actions necessary to ensure compliance with all corporate, legal, and regulatory compliance issues, implementation of corporate strategies, compensation policies and any actions necessary to achieve corporate objectives. Ensures successful implementation and performance of new products, programs, network initiatives and goals.
- Collaborates with regional support functions of nursing, finance, planning, quality, and human resources to achieve successful regional outcomes.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Develops and ensures compliance with confidentiality practices. Maintains knowledge and achieves compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory/accreditation requirements, licensure, record procedures, and internal controls.
- Reviews pending legislation on local, state, and national levels for impact on health care; and when appropriate, enlists support to influence effective legislation.
- Partners across the organization to support smooth transition of care for patients across care settings to ensure optimal setting of care to address patient needs. Creates and leads organizational models of care that drives effective communication, enhances operational efficiency, and establishes meaningful partnerships driving coordinated care.
