The Operations Consultant II is a project manager responsible for the successful planning, scheduling and completion of multiple operations planning and improvement projects. The Operations Consultant II serves as team leader directing the work activities of staff members and students, guides the direction for lean methodology and other operations improvement methodologies in the organization and steward the progress and deliverables as liaison between site operations, site senior management and director of Business Operations Support. In addition, the Operations Consultant II performs the following:
— Acts as project leader, coordinating and supervising the work of a project team. Develop project approaches and prepare detailed work plans for the successful and timely completion of projects. Conducts research and other preparatory activity prior to initiation of projects to ensure state-of-the-art approaches and solutions to problems. Reviews and coordinates team member work plans. Informs manager of project status.
— Supports the maintenance of both operational and clinical databases to support hospital performance improvement and benchmarking efforts.
— Provides decision support to administration, department directors, and managers to support planning and operational decisions. Optimize and improve reports by determining the customer's needs and by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Utilizes various software applications including spreadsheet, database, report writer, graphic, and statistic packages.
— Assists departments in the analysis of operational and clinical data using statistical tools such as process control charts, regression analysis, and forecasting. May conduct educational sessions related to statistical process control.
— Assists in the analysis of facility needs to include workflow analysis, space programming and functional layout design. May apply simulation technology to the process.
— Utilizes a systems approach to conduct operational analyses of organizational or departmental systems and processes, applying various industrial engineering techniques. Consults with management and/or team to design and implement operational improvement strategies and monitors effectiveness.
— Participates in performance improvement teams and provide technical support to assist the teams with use of TQM tools and the collection and analysis of data. Provides facilitation and/or guidance to redesign teams. May also serve as team leader or facilitator for process improvement teams.
The ideal Lean Operations Consultant II candidate is someone with effective communication skills, excellent analytical and problem solving skills, expertise in operation improvement and project management who is six-sigma trained, organized, flexible and able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
