Accounting Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:
This position oversees the revenue cycle (gross charges, patient insurance, collections, and adjustments), accounts payable and monitoring of operational efficiencies and assists multiple hospitals with training and coverage when a position is vacant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Job Specific:
- Assist DVP of Finance and AVPs of Finance with various tasks including gathering, reporting, and tracking information.
- Assist with accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations, journal entries (e.g., accrued, recurring), payroll reports, general ledger review, financial analysis, and month end close.
- Participate in and assist with audits.
- Organize Controller and Staff Accountant training and materials in collaboration with the Resource Controllers and Sr. Staff Accountants.
- Manage shared files across all of the hospitals.
- Various projects and tasks as requested.

- Maintains confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected.
- Reports to work on time as scheduled; adheres to policies regarding notification of absence.
- Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
- Maintains current licensure/certification for position, if applicable.
- Consistently demonstrates customer service skills to patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other individuals with whom they may come in contact.
- Consistently follows departmental and hospital Health, Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials policies and procedures.
- HIPAA: Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws, follow hospital policy in provision of patient confidentiality. Able to identify patient confidentiality issues and reports to proper hospital personnel immediately.
- Compliance: Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with standards set forth in Kindred's Code of Conduct, Kindred policy and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business.
- Knowledge of the intermediate features of using a calendar, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and internet browsers (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Edge preferred).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, balance priorities, makes decisions quickly.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business.
- Knowledge of the intermediate features of using a calendar, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and internet browsers (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Edge preferred).
