Job Summary
The Information Systems Supervisor performs all duties under the general supervision of the Laboratory Information Systems Supervisor and the general supervision of the Laboratory Administrative Director in a manner that denotes the team concept and reflects UCSF's PRIDE values and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital' (ZSFG') mission, vision and values.
The Laboratory Information Systems section is responsible for management and maintenance of the laboratory PC hardware/programs and laboratory database system which provides laboratory test results, billing information for the ZSFG billing department, and other data reports as needed. The LIS Supervisor 1 is responsible for assisting with all aspects of Sunquest management and maintenance. S/he will interact with clients in and outside of the laboratory in developing and customizing various reports extracted from an SQL relational database using Crystal Reports XI programming software. The LIS Supervisor 1 will also be responsible for supervising a staff of Computer Resource Specialists providing 24/7 on-site support for the laboratory data system and its users.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

The Clinical Laboratory (CL) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) provides laboratory testing services for inpatients and outpatients of ZSFG, Laguna Honda Hospital, District Health Centers and other facilities under the auspices of the SF Public Health Department. Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, or in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
* Minimum three years of directly related experience, including lead or supervisory experience.
* Broad knowledge of various areas of IT.
* Demonstrated ability to install hardware and software. Troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals, and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
* Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
* Basic knowledge associated with programming design, modification, and implementation.
* Proficient in PC applications including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office and Crystal Reports.
* Has solid interpersonal and management skills. Thorough knowledge of supervisory and leadership techniques in managing staff. Experience in supervision and management of employees.
* Requires independent judgment and strong organization and customer service focus.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires solid ability to write and communicate highly technical information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
* Demonstrate ability to work independently or as a member of a team; with minimal supervision.
* Must provide proof of full Covid-19 vaccination.
* Start date is contingent on proof of TB testing in the last year.
Note: Physical/health screening required.Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems such as Sunquest or Epic systems.
* Demonstrated Laboratory Information Systems testing and test planning skills.
* Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.
* Working knowledge of HL7
