Temple Health System and Temple University Hospital Inc.The Temple University Health System and Temple University Hospital, Inc. invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Chief Medical Officer.
Temple Health is a $2.4 billion academic health system dedicated to providing access to quality patient care and supporting excellence in medical education and research. The Health System consists of TUH, ranked among the “Best Hospitals” in the region by “U.S. News & World Report”; TUH-Episcopal Campus; TUH-Northeastern Campus; Fox Chase Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center; Jeanes Hospital; Temple Transport Team, a ground and air-ambulance company; Temple Physicians Inc., a network of community-based specialty and primary-care physician practices; and as of July 1, 2019, Temple Faculty Practice Plan Inc. TH is affiliated with the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.
The Health System maintains a vigorous and dynamic platform for teaching and education, while enhancing the health of the communities it serves. The non-profit network of hospitals and physicians provides a comprehensive array of inpatient/outpatient services and provides an environment for the highest quality patient care, teaching, and training. Temple Health provides the chief clinical training sites for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at TU.
The Chief Medical Officer, Temple University Hospital (TUH) and CMO, Temple Health, is the senior physician executive of the hospitals leadership team, providing clinical and strategic oversight to key hospital functions in collaboration with other Temple University Health System leaders. TUH and TUHS are in a dynamic period of growth and change, creating an exciting forward trajectory. The CMO will be a key leader in a truly interdisciplinary effort to continue this growth to reach and sustain its goals. Together with others, the CMO will take the lead on many critical initiatives. As the organization pursues its mission of performance excellence, this individual will:
- Work with the senior executive team of the hospitals to achieve high value care, including patient satisfaction, quality and patient safety, clinical efficiency, and population health.
- Work to align the goals of the organization with multidisciplinary approaches to care and work to further develop the patient safety plan.
- Work with senior leaders to continue to engage physicians in the implementation of strategies to achieve quality outcomes, while reducing infection rates and the cost per case.
- Provide leadership, accountability, and direction to achieve the highest level of quality standards with specific focus on infection control, risk management, and peer review.
- Direct the local CMO’s in the system to promote integration of programs across the health system that meet the needs of the patients and achieve economies of scale.
- Assume responsibility of regulatory compliance and the relationship with the Department of Health.
