DescriptionJob Summary:Responsible for overseeing the Physical Environment program in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and personnel. Supports the hospital-wide safety program and ISO 9001 compliance while promoting and maintaining hospital-wide Environment of Care. Conducts audits, trend analysis, and site inspections of operations for Nicklaus Children's Hospital.Minimum Job Requirements:- 2-4 years of healthcare experience with a focus on Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Hazardous Material Compliance
- Training and education experience to include a wide range of healthcare professionals, from clinicians to
administrators - Training in process improvement methodology

QualificationsEssential Job Duties:- Provides support and expertise for the team of individuals charged with oversight and coordination of Environment of Care (EOC) programs.
- Coordinates activities of the management plans within the Environment of Care for the hospital and outpatient care centers.
- Conducts and monitors safety, chemical, radiation, and environmental hazard inspections related to local, state, and federal codes and standards including DNV GL, NFPA, ASHE standards, etc.
- Conducts periodic inspections of all hospital locations for adherence and compliance with Physical Environment oversight.
- Develops detailed project plans to monitor and track progress. Reviews data provided within the Environment of Care program to make ongoing hospital-wide improvements.
- Coordinates and prepares agenda, presentations, minutes, sign-in sheets, and completes reports identifying findings and actions for EOC related meetings. Helps facilitate program components and applicable changes.
- Coordinates and/or participates in the development of departmental and hospital-wide Life Safety, Hazardous Material and Environment of Care policies, procedures, plans, and goals.
- Provides guidance and support to the Director of Environment of Care regarding safety improvement efforts.
- Conducts research, gathers best practice information, aligns processes to Life Safety standards, and facilitates meetings to assist with Physical Environment program and implementation.
- Participates in hospital committees. Serves as resource to other departments.
- Maintains documentation on the hazards and follow-up reports along with inspection data, including conducting eye wash log audits and oversight of chemical inventory list with SDS application.
- Submits completed reports to the Safety Committee concerning findings, recommendations, actions, and monitoring.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety, health, and environmental regulatory standards, such as Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Hazardous Material standards/practices and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of quality improvement concepts, methodologies and tools, and the importance of data performance improvement.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DNV-GL, CMS, and other regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in word processing, use of spreadsheet software, and development of presentations.
- Ability to assume responsibility for managing and updating existing health and safety programs, projects, and tasks.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and technical issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Able to exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment in identifying non-compliance issues and concerns.
- Effective decision-making and demonstrate creativity in problem-solving.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Self motivated and ability to interact with all levels of the healthcare system.
- Participates and/or coordinates risk assessment due to ongoing construction projects and major repairs.
