DescriptionJob Summary
Works closely with the Sr Director of Development/Foundations and Grants to pursue and manage grants from private, corporate, and community foundations. Primary responsibilities include pre- and post-award grant processes essential to developing funding proposals and grant reports that support the Health System's needs. In collaboration with service lines and the Sr Director, the position will ensure compliance with active grant requirements and growth of the Foundation Giving pipeline by writing and submitting applications, preparing budgets, researching and identifying funding sources, tracking deliverables, maintaining deadline calendar, and communicating with funders to meet the annual Foundation Giving goal.
Job Specific Duties
- Research, identify, cultivate, and solicit private foundation prospects.
- Responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for the Foundation's Development Department in collaboration with other Foundation Leaders.
- Manage a portfolio of donors affiliated with private family, corporate foundations, community foundations, foundation board, and volunteer members to help advance towards a meaningful giving commitment.
- Develop a minimum of 1-2 grant proposals per month and close a sufficient number to make the stated foundation giving goals for each year in collaboration with Senior Director and service lines.
- Prepare grant reports in collaboration with service lines and work with stewardship department to appropriately recognize donor philanthropy.
- Track grants activity and fundraising results. Continuous updating of Raisers Edge database with actions, moves management, etc.
- Works collaboratively and creatively with service lines to identify fundable projects fitting organizational strategies.
- Assist in managing special campaigns, corporate, and foundation support through the available programs. Attend NCHS/NCHSF events, as well as, outside events for Foundation representation, networking, etc.
- Research, write, edit, and submit grant applications and reports to secure and steward privately funded grants from foundations and corporations in support of Nicklaus Children's Health System programs, operations, capital projects, endowment, and other institutional priorities.
- Consult with service lines on grant research, determination of asset needs, proposal development, and grant management.
- Update calendar of grant deadlines to maintain timely management of requests and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Advise supervisor of opportunities for developing new grant development initiatives and innovations.
- Recommend policies and procedures to support grant development process.

QualificationsMinimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Communications, Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in journalism, technical writing, or other professional writing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum 2 years experience in grant writing preferred.
- Experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, and/or contracts management preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Deadline and detail oriented.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Familiarity with donor database applications.
- Exhibit a high level of energy, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a can-do attitude.
- Contributes to a collaborative and supportive fundraising culture.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
