This position serves as a strategic partner with Network Services leadership to plan, develop, manage and oversee business trending and financial proforma models to support the future growth of Network Services business, while actively managing and monitoring financial aspects of existing affiliations and the Duke LifePoint joint venture. This role is responsible for producing financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information; perform complex and specialized assignments/projects in assigned area of expertise.
The Finance Manager is an integral part of the business development team in assisting with the strategic partnerships by leading detailed financial analysis, in conjunction with Corporate Finance, to achieve the overarching strategic goals of Duke University Health System. The Finance Manager will be responsible for the development of business models for outpatient services, regional and national partnerships and the Duke LifePoint joint venture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with the Associate Vice President and other Network Services leadership to assist in the development of business plans and financial models for affiliation and professional services contracts and the Duke LifePoint joint venture.
Responsible for business plan development for new programs and services and at times, required to provide assistance in the development of business partnering with appropriate Network Services leadership.
Responsible for periodically analyzing key performance indicators for the entity in relation to comparable organizations and annual targets.
Monitor and oversee the preparation of financial analyses and reports, including but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information for Network Services affiliates as required by contractual terms
Responsible for development and recommendations for license fee proposals, which are modeled under a variety of assumptions including risk-sharing based on profitability or a percentage of revenue associated with a program.
Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements for the cost centers within Network Services.
Provide financial analysis associated with business plans and all capital requests.
Manage other financial analysts in the department.
Coordinate and participate in the preparation of various financial reports and analyses for senior leadership.
Manage the relationship between Network Services, DUHS Corporate Finance and other financial managers within Duke Health and the PDC.
Oversee and at times lead the development of business plansand project implementation plans.
Responsible for assisting with the development of contracts (e.g. management services agreements, medical directorship agreements, ancillary support agreements, etc.).
Responsible for management oversight of billing process implementation for new programs and services
Responsible for management of department financial systems, and development of department financial policies and procedures as appropriate.
REQUIRED AT THIS LEVEL:
Education: Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration. MBA, MHA CPA is very strongly preferred.
Experience: Work generally requires eight years of progressive accounting, financial management and/or financial auditing experience including knowledge

Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Working knowledge of SAP R/3 and QuickBooks desirable

Knowledge and ability to critically review cost information in a proposed fee structure to ensure that the fees are comprehensive and adequate for DUHS.
