JOB SUMMARY:
The oncology quality improvement specialist is accountable for carrying out and the success of performance improvement projects/initiatives for oncology services to address/strengthen patient safety, utilization of clinical resources and achievement of desired patient outcomes and experience. The oncology quality improvement specialist provides support and guidance in: 1) the request of accepted oncology quality improvement methodologies/tools; 2) data collection and statistical/operational analysis; 3) outcomes measurement; 4) documenting and implementing oncology quality improvements; and 5) evaluating desired vs. actual effectiveness of quality improvement efforts.
Work requires knowledge of project management and quality improvement concepts, methodologies and tools, and of the importance of data to performance improvement processes. Duties performed involve weighing and evaluating many factors requiring judgment, analytical ability and problem-solving in dealing with complex data and situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Education/Specialized Training/Licensure:Bachelor's Degree, Nursing or other Allied Health required.
Certified Professional for Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Six Sigma certification preferred, project management certification preferred.
2.Work Experience (Years and Area):2 years of experience in healthcare improvement methodologies/tools, outcomes management, and data analysis/reporting. General understanding of regulatory/accreditation requirements preferred
3.Management Experience (Years and Area):2 years of project management or quality improvement preferred
4.Equipment Operated:Personal Computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, window-based software programs (Visio, excel, power point, word etc.)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contract)
Writing /Composing: Correspondence / Reports
2. Other Skills:
Analytical, Design, Dictation/Transcription, Mathematics, Medical Terms, Statistical, Typing wpm 30, Word Processing, P.C., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point
3. Advanced Education:
Advance Training Specialty:2 years of experience in healthcare improvement methodologies/tools, outcomes management, and data analysis/reporting. General understanding of regulatory/accreditation requirements preferred; Certified Professional for Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Six Sigma certification preferred, project management certification preferred.
Bachelor's Degree Major: Bachelor's Degree, Nursing or other Allied Health required
4. Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, Travel, Eligible for Telecommute
5.
