Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Individual Giving, the Senior Director of Planned will be a seasoned fundraiser responsible for implementing a comprehensive planned giving program that will attract current and deferred gifts in support of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation development goals. Serves as an organizational expert in planned giving and supports all activities involved with cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors, Legacy Society, and professional advisors. Success will be achieved by building long term donor partnerships and demonstrating that all levels of philanthropic support are leveraged to realize maximum impact for Phoenix Children’s mission. The ideal candidate will be energetic and enthusiastic, metrics-driven, and is comfortable working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Qualifications:
*Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, philanthropy, or related field. JD preferred
*Experience may substitute for Planned Giving Requirements
*At least 10 years of experience in Planned Giving
*Must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience
*Understanding of social media outlets such as LinkedIn, Facebook
*Ability to work well in a team oriented atmosphere, and to lead/motivate donors and volunteers
*Exhibit leadership qualities
*Ability to multi-task and navigate a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities:
*The incumbent, having demonstrated leadership and success in the field, will execute strategies that support the shared vision of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation
*Lead the Planned Giving team by consistently using collaboration, strategy and a focus on the frontline to achieve annual metrics and financial goals.
*Direct oversight of two Planned Giving Officers
*Contribute by employing and role modeling key processes and programs that support an office wide focus on collaboration, efficiencies and metrics-based performance outcomes, in addition to primary role responsibilities.
*Support and partner with colleagues in securing planned gifts by providing technical expertise, options and proposal language, and participating in prospect meetings as appropriate.
*Develop and implement joint/major planned giving opportunities in collaboration with colleagues, leading to successful joint solicitations.
*In addition to leadership and program development responsibilities, the Senior Director will carry a robust portfolio with emphasis on generating gift revenue.
*Will conduct or facilitate the development of focused, effective donor meetings and cultivation events to inform donors/prospects of Phoenix Children’s Programs, and to provide general information regarding planned giving opportunities available through charitable giving
*Provide leadership and oversight of the Integrated Planned Giving Marketing Plan.
*Maintain an understanding and knowledge of various planned giving techniques, in both the legal and tax domains, for use in gift solicitations
*Demonstrated and significant knowledge of planned giving vehicles including charitable gift annuities, real estate and other non-case tangible properties, charitable remainder and lead trusts, testamentary trusts, bequests, life insurance policies and retained life estates
*Identify, organize and direct the efforts of philanthropic volunteersWorking in close collaboration and reporting to the Vice President (VP), the Foundation Programs Director designs and executes on a comprehensive program development strategy for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. The Programs Director oversees and executes on both capital campaigns and ongoing fundraising efforts as well as serving and executing on specific program development goals and strategies.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field. (Required)
- Master's degree. (Preferred)
Experience
- 10 years of related experience, including 3 years in a team leadership role. (Required)
- Proven success in development for a large nonprofit or relatable environment. (Required)
- Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting
on progress to senior managers/board of directors. (Required) - Experience running campaigns and successful fundraising from multiple donor channels. (Preferred)
