The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for assisting the health system in innovation, alignment, strategy, operations, problem solving, policy development and questions of policy as they relate to the medical staff in both hospital and outpatient clinical settings, ever improving clinical quality and patient satisfaction across the entire health system and other health system matters as assigned by the CEO.

Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer will coordinate activities of the medical staff, and assures compliance with, state and federal laws, health system policies, medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and works closely with the health system CEO and the Vice President of Physician Services for the health system.

Our ideal candidate will specifically possess:

• Medical Doctor Degree or Doctor of Osteopathy Degree with at least 5 years of healthcare practice experience after residency and preferably has at least 3 years of progressive Chief Medical Officer experience that would be relevant for a rural healthcare system.
• Required: Must be licensed as a physician in California
• Must be board certified in area of physician specialty.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred: Licensed in Nevada as a physician.

The Organization

Tahoe Forest Hospital is a not-for-profit rural health care facility and designated critical access hospital. It is fully accredited by the Healthcare Accreditation Facilities Program and licensed by the State of California Department of Health Services. It is a Level III Trauma Center.

Tahoe Forest Hospital has 25 acute care beds and 36 long-term care beds. Our service area covers six rural counties, two states and approximately 3,500 square miles, reaching the communities of Truckee, North Lake Tahoe, Donner Summit, the Sierra Valley in California, and Incline Village in Nevada.

A vital resource of Tahoe Forest Health System is Incline Village Community Hospital located in Incline Village, Nevada, and serving North Lake Tahoe, Kings Beach, Crystal Bay and Incline Village. It is a 4-bed critical access hospital offering 24-hour emergency care as well as laboratory, diagnostic and surgical capability, physical therapy services, and health clinic.

The Location

If you’re heading to Truckee for a day trip or simply stopping on your way to Reno, Truckee has something fun for everyone. Just north of Lake Tahoe in the High Sierras, Truckee, CA is a small mountain town with big energy that is loaded with plenty of things to do, including hidden gems and outdoor activities.  Truckee is only 27 minutes to Lake Tahoe and 33 minutes to Reno. 

The Truckee area was originally inhabited by the Washoe, Maidu and Paiute tribes, and then later by miners and settlers in the later 1860s. Truckee grew into a bustling mining town with plenty of wealth, excitement, and debauchery to go around during the gold and silver rushes.

Today, Truckee is full of world class outdoor activities, food, shopping, art and numerous other things to do.
