DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:
The Departmental Trainer will plan and establish training programs for the Environmental Services department. Perform training needs analysis, design and conduct training programs, and conduct follow-up evaluations.
Department Summary:
As an Environmental Services Department at Vanderbilt Medical Center, we are dedicated to maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our patients and family members. We have a very diverse department with team members who enjoy what they do and are excited about being a part of the Vanderbilt family. We sustain a high cleaning standard by employing a nine-step cleaning process while training on proper chemical use, proper protective equipment, and patient safety. The Environmental Services Team is responsible for ensuring the hospital environment is patient ready and our team is full of employees who are always willing to help!

This position is full-time. This position involves working every other weekend and rotating holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and establish training programs based upon a needs-analysis and department objectives.
- Conduct program development including specifying learning objective, preparing program content, developing instructional material, and organizing the format for delivery.
- Coordinate with the Office of Training and Organization Development and other departments as necessary or appropriate to ensure consistency of program objectives with accepted University policies and standards.
- Conduct customized training programs for personnel
- Create formal and informal methods for evaluating program effectiveness
- Follow-up with supervisors regarding employee performance.
- Assist in the quality assurance program by monitoring employee performance according to performance standard
- Relate to supervisor in regard to specific employee performance.
- Manage administrative responsibilities for training classes:
- Maintain a record-keeping and filing system for all training classes, on-the-job training, and other education received.
- Prepare written progress reports to be presented to management; compose correspondence related to coordinating training activities.
- Compile supply and media expenses to deliver training programs.
- Supervisory responsibility for employees assisting with on-the-job training and new employee orientation.
