Southwest Medical Center (SWMC) in Liberal, Kansas, has an outstanding leadership opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will report to the Board of Trustees of Southwest Medical Center.
Located in Liberal, Kansas, Southwest Medical Center (SWMC) operates as a not-for-profit, 101-bed acute care hospital. Southwest Medical Center is a business entity governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Seward County, Kansas, and an administration selected by the Board of Trustees. No taxes are levied by the Board of County Commissioners of Seward County, Kansas, for operating, maintaining, equipping and improving the hospital. Through the years SWMC has become a regional medical center serving patients from a five-state region; Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. As the hospital evolves in a changing industry, one of their continuing goals is to provide “Quality Healthcare Close to Home.” This means recruiting and retaining highly skilled physicians, investing in state-of-the-art medical technology and providing compassionate patient service.
SWMC’s compassionate care extends beyond the advanced clinical services they offer patients in their facilities. They are in the community, supporting vital programs and services to meet the health needs of the most vulnerable and medically under-served populations. For the fiscal year 2020, SWMC provided more than $2.1 million of financial assistance to the community.
SWMC requires a trusted and respected leader with strong healthcare operations credibility and a distinct vision for the future. The CEO must bring top-notch interpersonal skills and a "partner with" orientation. It is critical that this leader establishes himself/herself as a visible, approachable individual and be an honest, transparent, proactive and effective communicator. He/she must be naturally oriented to, and personally invested in, building trusting, collaborative relationships across the region, with providers and in the community.
