Diabetic Physician Recognition Program
More ProHealth Medical Group physicians than any other health care system in Wisconsin have been awarded recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in the Diabetic Physician Recognition Program (DPRP).
The NCQA/ADA Diabetes Physician Recognition Program is a voluntary effort to identify physicians who provide diabetes care consistent with the comprehensive diabetes care measures within the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set, ADA's Standards of Medical Care and the Diabetes Quality Improvement Project.

National Surgical Quality Improvement Program

Position Summary
As a member of ProHealth Care’s senior executive team, the Chief Quality Officer will be responsible for advancing quality and patient safety initiatives throughout ProHealth Care to continuously improve the performance, outcomes and patient experience. Other areas of responsibility and organization-wide initiatives and programs may be assigned.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Quality Officer is responsible for the following:
Administrative/Management Responsibilities
- Accountable for quality and safety across the entire scope of ProHealth Care’s clinical operations.
- Provides leadership and direction in the activities that address the National Academy of Medicine's Six Domains of Health Care Quality: safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.
- Raises the standard of care for all patients by developing and communicating a vision of quality and safety for providers and other clinical staff.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development, implementation, interpretation and maintenance of quality and safety standards.
- Fosters a culture of continual improvement for clinical quality and safety.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development, implementation, interpretation and maintenance of standards, policies and procedures for areas assigned and ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements and other governing and accrediting agencies such as the Joint Commission.
- Develops, communicates and tracks quality and safety metrics and standards for clinical care.
- Serves as the primary clinical spokesman for the organization for both internal and external audiences.
- Represents ProHealth Care on clinical matters in front of managed care payers, community organizations, employers and consumers.
- Ensures the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols across professional disciplines to optimize quality of care and efficiency across ProHealth Care.
- Leads efforts to reduce non-value-added clinical variation across the enterprise.
- Develops effective working relationships with the medical staff, other health care providers, administrative staff and other leaders.
- Drives, integrates, monitors and evaluates quality assurance and disease management, and develops standards to improve quality outcomes both clinically and administratively to ensure the highest standards in treatment and care of patients and to ensure compliance with all relevant licensing and accrediting bodies.
Operational Leadership
- Implements and promotes a customer-focused vision. Ensures staff understands the mission and goals and performs their duties with superior customer service.
- Establishes organizational change plans and oversees the implementation and integration of organizational change efforts to ensure that objectives are met.
- Provides leadership and direction through effective communications with staff and ProHealth Care departments.
- Develops effective working relationships with other executives and leaders throughout the organization to ensure coordination of systems and services.
Human Resource Management
- Establishes and develops an effective management team to ensure the highest standards of excellence in practice and patient/physician/stakeholder satisfaction.
- Creates an environment of accountability through establishment of clear expectations and consequences. Monitors performance and behavior of teams by providing ongoing feedback and support.
Fiscal Management
- As a member of the executive team, participates in the formulation and forecast of operating and capital expenditures of ProHealth Care.
- Directs the development and administration of the operating and capital expenditure budgets for areas assigned. Monitors activities to ensure adherence to budgetary goals and objectives.
Safety
- Leads the organization’s clinical safety team, spearheading safety improvement efforts across ProHealth Care.
- Provides leadership and direction to management staff to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, including the Joint Commission, OSHA and other local, state and federal agencies along with the policies and procedures of the organization.
Other Responsibilities:
- Acts as a role model for excellence.
- Serves on boards, executive committees and project teams.
- Represents ProHealth Care at professional and community meetings and to the community at large.
- Maintains and promotes positive working relationships with departments and staff, board members, governing agencies and other external contacts.
- Ensures that employees perform their duties in a manner that is consistent with ProHealth Care’s mission, values and patient experience standards.
- Demonstrates behaviors appropriate to ProHealth Care's core values.
- Complies with policies and procedures, regulatory agencies and institutional and operating systems, including corporate compliance policies and code of conduct.
- Protects patient confidentiality.
- Complies with HIPAA regulations as they apply to the job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Ten years of clinical practice, preferably to include at least three years as part of a large teaching hospital.
- Five years of senior management experience in a health care setting is preferred. Prior experience as a Chief Quality Officer highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation standards.
- Experience in designing effective clinical practice patterns and clinical protocols to decrease unnecessary utilization and enhance quality
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementation of system-wide quality initiatives preferred.
- Knowledge of advanced principles, techniques and theory in quality and patient safety.
- Knowledge and ability to apply principles of team process and dynamics, employee empowerment strategies, personnel management and physician relations.
- Ability to establish, lead and maintain an effective and results-oriented management
- Knowledge of governing agencies' rules, regulations, guidelines and policies related to functions, services and activities provided by areas assigned.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a broad range of people.
- Ability to direct and coordinate organization-wide initiatives and projects.
EDUCATION
- An MD or DO degree is required.
