Summary:
The Director of Risk Management oversees the risk management function at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center to prevent or minimize risk of operational exposure and losses to property. Responsibilities include: directing the investigations of incidents in order to identify potential or existing risks and/or liabilities for financial losses; investigating claims and incident reports; developing and implementing risk control; reviewing and monitoring the effectiveness of existing practices and procedures, making appropriate recommendations as needed.
Experience:
Minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in the field of risk management, three of which must have been in the health care field, preferably in a large tertiary academic hospital/healthcare facility.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a clinical or related field preferred. Master's degree or Juris Doctor preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
Other:
If applicable, the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control. Expertise of risk management in a hospital or health delivery setting. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures and techniques utilized in planning and conducting confidential investigations. Thorough knowledge of DNV, New York State Department of Health, Public Health Law and case law as they related to general hospital administration and Risk Management. Confidentiality is an expectation that all employees at MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center will protect of all patient care, personnel and business/ financial information. Employees will complete required competencies, annual mandatory training requirements and adhere to the code of conduct as described in the MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center Compliance Plan and brochure.
