Executive Administrative Director
Stanford Cancer Institute, Cancer Clinical Trials OfficeStanford Cancer Institute is seeking an Executive Administrative Director (EAD) of the Cancer Clinical Trials Office (CCTO).
In collaboration and cooperation with the CCTO staff and the faculty, the EAD will lead the Stanford Cancer Institute’s organizational unit responsible for supporting the management of cancer-related clinical trials conducted. In this senior leadership role, the EAD is responsible for developing and executing the strategy for the CCTO as well as overseeing all day-to-day operations of the CCTO. The EAD will be a vital contributor to our executive management cabinet, will lead and develop a large team of clinical trial, regulatory, finance, and operations professionals (over 200), and will build a strong partnership with internal and external stakeholders. To deliver high-quality and efficient clinical research, the EAD will leverage their business acumen and experience to identify and deploy impactful management strategies. The responsibilities of the EAD include strategy, organizational and leadership development, long-range planning, change management, recruitment, and retention. The successful candidate will also lead and execute process improvements and transformational change utilizing their exceptional management and interpersonal prowess. As our staff runs toward challenges, the EAD will have a demonstrated history of doing the same with a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and flexibility.
A key priority is to develop and lead the strategy, capabilities, and operations of the CCTO as they relate to the Stanford Cancer Institute functions of human resources, finances, space management, communications, community outreach, engagement, and research grant requirements. Additionally, they will have experience in creating and leading the strategic direction and development of long-range plans that establish objectives and direction for a clinical trials organization. Ideally, the successful candidate will have excellent skills in leading and managing a large organization of staff through subordinate managers; be able to determine staffing levels, select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation; identity, clarify, and resolve strategic impact issues with university-wide impact and substantial significance, which may span multiple areas, using advanced clinical trials and Good Clinical Practice knowledge requiring broad discretion and judgment. The EAD must be a leader in evaluating and submitting grant applications in support of clinical research infrastructure and operations for multiple trials. The EAD must demonstrate cultural awareness and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading and managing a large organization of clinical trials, regulatory, finance, and operations through subordinate managers. They will have a bachelor’s degree with ten years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
