The David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (DGSOM) invites applicants and nominations for the Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education (ADCME).
The purpose of the Office of Continuing Medical Education at DGSOM is to support the continuing education needs of the medical community by providing high-quality, evidence based activities designed to help health professionals provide the highest quality care that reflects the state of the science and standards of practice. The Office develops and produces a variety of live and virtual activities ranging from conferences and single- and multi-day clinical
symposia to regularly scheduled series and webinars, as well as enduring materials that are made available to physicians within the institution as well as locally, regionally and nationally.
Reporting to the Vice Dean for Education, the ADCME is a key faculty leader, responsible for oversight of the operations of the CME Office. The ADCME will work with the CME Administrative Director to ensure ongoing institutional CME accreditation. As a member of the Dean’s office, the ADCME will also serve as a collegial leader who embraces the principles of the DGSOM’s Cultural North Star. This is a 50% administrative effort position. Direct reports include the CME Administrative Director and indirect reports include the CME support staff.The ideal candidate will be a thought leader in innovative approaches to CME, have an understanding of applicable ACCME policies, an ability to plan and design programs, providing appropriate guidance to faculty to ensure programs meet ACCME standards, and the ability to manage conflicts of interests that might arise. Demonstrated scholarship in education is a plus. Familiarity with CME programming, a passion for education, a track record of success in leadership positions, the capacity to work cooperatively with a wide range of constituents and a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion are also crucial.
All candidates must hold an MD, DO degree or equivalent and be eligible for an appropriate appointment in the UCLA faculty series.
