DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:
The candidate selected for this role will provide daily operational management for Purchasing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He/she will develop work goals, common policies and procedures; in addition, he/she will work with appropriate leadership to recommend and establish departmental goals.KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide support to the execution of the overall VUMC Purchasing strategy and direction
o Assists in managing VUMC Purchasing that meet VUMC's goals and objectives
* Collaborates with department heads and executives of the various entities within VUMC to determine product and services needs are met.
o Acts as purchasing business advisor to leaders
o Ensures useful supply chain knowledge is captured and promotes continual improvement.
* Manages the standardization of programs, files, processes and systems in for purchasing functions.
o Ensure Vanderbilt University Medical Center principles, policies, and programs are consistently practices
o Assures effective communications are maintained with areas of responsibility and coordination among the departments and other segments of the medical center.
o Consults with all segments of management responsible for policy or action.
o Makes and manages recommendations for improving effectiveness of supply chain policies and practices.
* Collaborates on key strategic decisions with patient care centers relative to the supply chain.
o Coordinates communication with VUMC administration, department directors, support staff and other interested parties to discuss and develop solutions to supply chain systems issues in the department.
o Facilitate projects and oversee committees in support of program goals.
o Present recommendations to management for approval and implementation.
* Establishes and maintains effective relationships with governmental agencies, suppliers of goods, services, and equipment toVanderbilt University Medical Center.
o Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in the field of purchasing.
