Corporate Director Subspecialties, Medical Group Operations
Responsible for the development and administrative leadership of Medical Group Practices, with a specific focus on all employed Subspecialty practices. The role will also serve at the Operational Lead for the Subspecialty Service Line, with responsibility for establishing service line strategy and goals and monitoring strategic initiatives and performance metrics. Primary responsibility includes overall operational management of all practices and sites. The Corporate Director will report to the VP, Consultative Care and work collaboratively with the Subspecialties Service Line leadership.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs the planning and implementation of the practices to provide optimal patient care and experience.
Collaborates with physician and nursing leadership to set the strategic and operational direction of the service line
Creates and leads a structure for setting and executing all service line goals in alignment with system annual operating plan goals.
Develops, maintains and revises practice philosophy, goals, policies, procedures and standards in accordance with national guidelines and best practices.
Oversees the management of all aspects of the assigned physician practices including personnel, fiscal and compliance activities. Maintains key performance data and metrics by site of service as well as by provider.
Develops and maintains capital and operating budgets.
Maintains continued profitability of the assigned Services through effective budget management coupled with the pursuit of cost reductions as well as exploration and implementation of new business opportunities.
Defines and monitors billing data standards and maintains patient billing integrity across all systems-electronic and manual and remains up to date on changes in professional coding and reimbursement
Work with leadership of The Medical Group of Christiana Care assure high quality, efficient care is delivered to the community, and that services work together to standardize policies and procedures and take advantage of economies of scale when practical.
In collaboration with Medical and Administrative Leadership continues to identify opportunities and implement action items to improve patient clinical outcomes, efficiency and effectiveness and service excellence.
Manages and oversees the contractual relationships with all physicians and outside vendors.
Manage all of the physician compensation programs including working in collaboration with Service Line leadership, and Medical Directors on the establishment of quality and productivity metrics and targets. Evaluates performance against targets routinely and shares information with practice physicians.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and relationships with office staff, physicians and other departments within Christiana Care and affiliated hospitals.
Works with IT department to ensure that appropriate computer systems access and security are maintained and that systems are functioning appropriately.
Monitors departmental productivity and strategizes with direct reports to implement appropriate action steps designed to improve upon the results.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other duties as required.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
MG-President, VP MG- Operations, Physician Leader, Nursing Leader, Medical Directors of Subspecialty practices. Regular contact with patients, families, and visitors as well as with front line employees.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Practice Operations Directors, Practice Managers, Project Managers and other operational staff.
MG-VP, Consultative Care
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Masters Degree required, preferably an MHA, MPH or MBA.
Minimum of five years progressive leadership experience required. Physician practice management or related clinical operational experience required. Experience managing multiple sites is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency and knowledge of strategic and business planning including development of business plans and financial forecasts.
Skill in financial planning, payor contracting, billing, reimbursement and management of denials.
Knowledge and ability to manage physician relations.
Skill in directing people of diverse backgrounds and responsibilities.
Ability to accurately analyze and synthesize complex quantitative information.
