Leads, facilitates and manages day to day activities of Clinical Documentation Specialists across Bon Secours Charity Health System. The CDMP manager will work in collaboration with the CDMP team of clinicians, coding professionals, physicians, physician's assistants and nurse practitioners to ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in the medical record that supports the coding process in attaining appropriate DRGs based on sound clinical entries in the medical record and reflects the level of service rendered to patients is complete and accurate. Educates all members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines on an ongoing basis. Ensures communication and successful operations workflows among all facilities within the health system.

Develops and conducts ongoing clinical documentation management program education for all new staff, including new clinical documentation specialists, physicians, nursing and allied health professionals.
Educates all internal and external customers on clinical documentation opportunities, coding and reimbursement issues as well as performance improvement methodologies.
Review clinical issues with the coding staff to assign as working DRG, resolve discrepancies in the final DRG and provide ongoing feedback to the CDMP staff.
Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
Ability to present documentation and coding ideas and concepts effectively to physicians, management and other clinicians.
Ability to explain to the physicians and clinicians what is required when documentation is lacking.
Maintains clinical knowledge through continuous learning and case reviews.
Participate in system wide committees and meetings.
Provides documentation guidance to CDMP and medical staff.
Development of initiatives to support CDMP strategies and opportunities.
Participates in system wide initiatives especially VBP, SOI, ROM, and ICD 10.
Continuous monitoring and improvement of the CDMP process.
Demonstrates critical thinking during concurrent documentation review.
Shares critical thinking skills with task force and other hospital staff as needed.
Develops goals and objectives, and manages financial and material resources.
Manages multiple priorities, change, and communication.
Create and disseminate CDMP reports.
Analyzes and interprets data.
Perform staff evaluations.
Performs other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 5 years acute adult care clinical experience with critical care and management capabilities and CDI experience. Minimum 5 years staff management/Supervisory Experience in a CDI environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectively to physicians; knowledge of disease process as well as anatomy and physiology; knowledge of correct business English with strong organizational skills; computer literacy; critical thinking skills; able to work independently as well as in a team setting. Knowledge of Medicare Part A and Part B and regulatory environment. Current/valid State of New York RN license; CCDS certification required after 1 year of employment. Demonstrates project management expertise
BSN required; Masters preferred.
