The Regional Nursing Director , Cardiac / Interventional Services provides administrative and clinical direction of staff, responsibility of day to day operations, maintains and reviews quality improvement, acts as liaison between Nursing Services , the Cardiology Department and other patient care services . Further responsibility includes review of scheduling to maintain adequate staffing, In addition the Regional Nursing Director will assist leadership with new program implementation and cost effectiveness of all departmental operations.
A Maintains clinical proficiency and current knowledge of General and Cardiac Interventional services and other Cardiac Services. Has a working knowledge of and is able to perform all responsibilities as required. A Interviews, hires, and recommends termination of departmental personnel. Conducts performance counseling in an objective and consistent manner. Performs and/or monitors annual departmental performance appraisals. Actively participates in programs to recruit, retain and develop staff. A Ensures adequate orientation of newly hired personnel and serves as a resource for the staff and other members of the health care team. A Actively participates in ongoing departmental service development and implementation. A Verifies that documentation for all therapeutic diagnostic and interventional procedures are performed in accordance with department policies and procedures. A Assures the adequate nurse staffing of the Interventional, and Cardiology department to meet patient care needs. A Demonstrates ability to utilize resources, including productivity of staff. Maintains staffing levels, flexing down when appropriate, managing overtime, orientation hours and supply inventories. A Standardization of evidence based quality clinical care through WMC and Health Alliance Hospital's o Policy and Procedures o Patient experience o Patient flow o Staff education A Responsible for Quality oversight regionally o DOH readiness of cardiac catheterization labs A~ Maintain DOH regulations ongoing o DOH Stats (Diagnostic, PCI and ICD) o ACC/NCDR and ICD modules o Device logs o Maintain database/ referrals/ volumes o PI projects o Participate and oversee Cath ops meetings, Cath conference (minutes), STEMI o Develops means to improve patient/customer satisfaction and measures outcomes of initiatives. Defines clinical "dashboards" that are department specific as a means to monitor and improve quality. o Department specific customer satisfaction surveillance for outpatient services. Monitor TAT, Physician satisfaction, patient compliance to therapeutic treatments A Fosters teamwork, maintains open lines of communication and works collaboratively with other departments on combined clinical and quality projects. Investigates, develops, and assists in education and implementation of collaborative interdisciplinary quality initiatives. A Delegates responsibilities appropriately. A Fiscal Responsibility: o Actively participates in the development and adherence to all departmental budgets o Maintains daily and accurate billing information for all therapeutic & diagnostic procedures. o Assists and collaborates with Senior Nursing Leadership to identify cost containment o Reviews monthly all assigned departmental expense accounts and justify variances as needed. o Demonstrates ability to accurately budget and forecast volumes and dollars. Utilizes appropriate financial records and reports, and stays within limitations of annual budget. Effectively and/or creatively utilizes staff, and monitors expenses, in order to lower expenses and exceed budgeted expectations. A Chairs or serves on a variety of hospital committees and meetings as appropriate to areas of responsibility. Chairs and/or participates on various other related committees in addition to immediate areas of responsibility, Ensures integrity of data collected for hospital initiatives and reports data on behalf of the hospital to appropriate regulatory agency in a timely manner A Upholds and maintains regulatory standards in areas responsible for, to assure certifications and accreditations. Maintains department environment according to all regulatory standards and in compliance with all safety standards, and accrediting organizations. A Develops new business/program opportunities via critical customer partnerships in support of initiatives. Demonstrates accountability for areas of responsibility and own actions. A Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in Interventional Cardiology, 2 of which were in a management level role, required.
