The System Director, Equity Initiatives has primary responsibility for driving Equity strategy progress, managing the pipeline of projects, and optimizing the equity trade-off. The System Director, Equity Initiatives will oversee day-to-day activities and provide support to relevant Project Owners. They will also liaise with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) Office and the Pillar Leads (project managers of system initiatives) on behalf of the Equity Strategy Office and actively engage with key stakeholders to advance Equity. Responsible for value capture and managing the pipeline of projects
Finds new opportunities and improves projects by encouraging team to meet deadlines and capture full value
Leads and trains others in Equity Impact Analyses and utilizes and recommends equity trade-off analyses (equity weighting analyses and equity constraint analyses) as appropriate.
Challenges the status quo by finding opportunities and bringing a questioning attitude to the work leave no stone unturned
Pushes projects relentlessly forward by supporting, coaching, and challenging Project Owners and other stakeholders
Responsible for tracking progress
Ensures there are mechanisms to track progress across all Projects and ensure teams feel empowered with resources to input progress
Strives for results and effectiveness by supporting a non-bureaucratic environment and removal of time-wasting tasks
Serves as the focal point for Project Owners working directly toward Equity Critical Focus Area goals; providing guidance and direction to advance Equity
Holds self and others accountable for committed actions during and outside EPMO meetings
Liaises with the EPMO Office and Pillar Leads on behalf of the Equity Strategy Office and Critical Focus Area
Acts as the primary communication point between relevant Project Owners and the Equity Strategy Office
Collates the teams content requiring decisions/updates to achieve required decisions and next steps
Escalates major decisions, highlights successes, flags risks and acts as thought partner to Pillar Leads
Engages with key stakeholders
Offers support to coach, set direction, overcome barriers, and prioritize opportunities across Pillar Leads and Project Owners
Resolves issues and roadblocks or escalates them to the Chief of Equity Strategy for resolution
Fosters engagement, information sharing, buy-in, idea generation and collaboration across stakeholders
Actively participates in key Equity Strategy Office activities
Attends weekly Equity Strategy meetings
Regular working sessions with relevant Project Owners and Pillar leads and needed
Regular (multiple times weekly) stand up meetings with relevant Project Owners to drive progress and surface issues
Bachelor's degree in work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university
10-15 years experience of proven achievement of strategic priorities OR 57 years of related experience and masters degree in related field
Experience organizing and conducting Equity Impact Analyses
Experience operationalizing G.A.R.E. or R.E.I.A. or similar toolkits
Proven management experience with direct or indirect reports and demonstrated ability to execute and achieve results
Formal or informal leadership experience with cross-functional responsibilities
Ability to critically review and improve projects with a strategic lens pushing to accelerate dates, capture full value and remove barriers
Excellent communication skills and analytical skills
Ability to coach, develop and motivate others
Ability to execute on short intervals
Masters degree in work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university
External consulting experience with national or regional firm
Experience utilizing equity trade-off analyses in operational decision-making
Extensive experience and proven track record working in highly matrixed organization
Extensive experience working on projects that represent transformational changes touching many departments in a complex health care system
